A good place to work but stressful and fast paced. Food was good and staff was fun to work with for the most part. Some customers were very hard to deal with

Managers and owner forced servers to wear tighter clothes. Couldn’t even wear a long sleeve/sweater when the restaurant is freezing cold. Even when training they told you to pull your shirt down when you’re serving guys.
You don’t work enough hours or make enough money to put up with that. Also managers will talk behind ur back all the time!! Do not work here

- Unprofessional managers/owner. Owner tells employees how in debt she is and managers bully and gossip about employees directly in front of you.
- Part time employees expected to act like full time workers. Way too stressful
- Hours are unpredictable & business is very slow sometimes and you make NO tips.
- Only good thing was some employees are nice

not happy with the kitchen manager

the kitchen manager was a guy i think did not know how to submit an order GFS even won't know the rules in Canada
use people for his needed and all the time has given stress
which was against the law. I would not recommend anyone to work with him. as I said he don't respect anyone and showing like he is the owner of the company want to put his rules in the kitchen.

Management is unprofessional, music is so loud my head hurts 30 mins into the shift, lots of creepy old guys coming in to get drunk and hitting on you makes you so uncomfortable. Staff is filled with girls who aren’t very friendly & will talk behind your back. Just bad energy in there

I’ve been a server here for 2 years and have loved it. The management is great, super flexible with shifts and very understanding with availability. It’s a small restaurant but bartending/serving is great because the regulars will always be there and tip well. Also it’s a great place to learn if you don’t have much serving experience. It can get slow but serving is never guaranteed. Overall a really awesome place to work

I never dread going to work. I know the everyone there is more than willing to help out and support if it gets busy. Management is very understanding of life outside of work and great with working around busy schedules.

i adore every person who has worked at my location. understanding about other jobs or time off, lots of room for advancement and a great environment. head office was consistently in contact with every employee to maintain continuity through emails about specials, menu changed and updates.

Average hours 20-40+ a week, pretty decent as you get free lunches everyday really great staff usually pretty helpful. Cons are a bit of miscommunication with management work you like a horse and are easily expendable.

Management both FOH and BOH is rude and extremely entitled for working at an establishment that failed health and safety inspections. Uniforms were only given in sizes smaller than you (I'm a large, received a small and xsmall) and with a mini skirt your butt is always hanging out. Don't expect to make much in tips due to bad food and service, average $40 on a Friday night as a server. Not worth it. You will not be respected.

Saint Louis Bar and Grill is a great place to work. The hours are flexible and generally manageable. As any restaurant, the hours are not always guaranteed, but the people you work with are incredible.

Employer at Scarborough location only has full time staff and so employees are always worked to the bone with no down time or relief team for sick days. Management makes you come in/stay when you're sick. Makes you pay for dine and dash.
Employees are nice and a good work culture when management isn't around. Regulars who make the job enjoyable. Decent money/sales, but tips out on sales, not tip total, and lots of people don't tip at this location so you pay out of pocket for them.

Built this company from the ground up . Worked my
Butt off. Dead location. Make no money as a bartender. And they will fire you for no reason . I was there day 1. Quit my full time job to work for these guys. They fire the GM and then me a day after. It’s not busy so they fire people . What a big joke of a place !

working here was a very enjoyable experience. the staff and managers are the most friendly and welcoming people you could meet. all kitchen prep and cooking becomes second nature under the teaching of the managers and senior staff. the kitchen becomes a fun environment while also maintaining productivity.

While working St. Louis, it was an enjoyable experience 8 had the please of working with some people that I still to this day consider dear friends. I still once and a while go in to check out the great menu and see my old co workers .

Best place to work! Great management and owners! They care about their staff and always make it fun! If you are a hard worker they will compensate you with good shifts and appreciation! I loved working at St. Louis because your hard work won’t go unnoticed! (DT Elgin location) They do a lot of staff outings/staff incentives and everyone was like a family when I worked there! You can also make a killing while working during the summer patio months!

Unprofessional, poor management,and lack of communication

Lack of communication: No proper rules, and if management tried to implement, then they would constantly change them. Training on server duties and what to do when, and how was not communicated. No proper training and no meetings for new staff to discuss the restaurants standards and goals. Management would not pick up calls and would take their time to reply to messages, which shows their lack of interest towards communication with coworkers.
Poor management: Management would deal with customer issues poorly by avoiding contact with the customers or giving them unnecessary attitude, never ending with a positive outcome. Understaffed and would be left on busy nights, which is unfair to the customers and workers. Customers would notice that the restaurant is understaffed and would express how wrongfully the company schedules their workers.
Unprofessional: Management lacked respect towards coworkers by cancelling shifts an hour before hand which is unjust and would not follow up on important information. Managers would not take customer or worker issues seriously, they would just brush off. High employee turn over rate which was reflected and talked about by customers. Very bad image on the company and this location in particular.
Only good part was the great customers that would come in.
