They have this odd hierarchy system which is incredibly ridiculous. Though they support the whole “healthy lifestyle overall”, their management skills make a lot of new employees becomes stressed to the point of being mentally uncomfortable. Maybe it’s just this location but I doubt it
sportchek is the easiest job ever. If the people you work with are nice then its fun. Customers can be rude but that sales for you. Management can be bad at communicating but overall its a very very easy job and can be fun with the right people
Goodluck on your first couple of days because once youre hired management just throws you out there without any proper set up and kind of think on the spot.
Supportive staff, Productive and fun workplace, friendly environment. I enjoy my work. The management is very supportive. You need to work a few months to get full time hours if you start as a part timer.
Not enough hours
Sportchek is like any other retail job, workers are expected to do more, and deal with more, than what they are paid. New hires are often paid more than some of the employees who had been working there for several years. They are flexible with hours, especially if you play a sport and need time off for a tournament, and you can always trade shifts with coworkers if they are willing. Management can be very uptight, depending on the day, and sometimes offer little help if your department is busy. This job can teach you great customer service skills, how to have a hard work ethic, and how to be patient with frustrating customers if you are willing to learn. You will be praised, but you won't be compensated for always going above and beyond. If you're a high school or college student looking to work a minimal amount of hours to either get a little cash or entry level work experience, then this job can be a good fit.
Great discount, flexible hours, learning opportunities
sub-par management, deal with customers

A typical day at Sport Chek would be helping customers find the shoe they need, whether it be for running or casual wear. Working in the footwear department provides you experience in the retail business as well as experience in customer service during busy times as events that sport chek provides creates a busy atmosphere where people customer service skills are constantly tested.
Overall the benefits surrounding the discount is the best part of the job. Management quality is dependant on location, some stores had great managers and some had terrible, like all department stores it an okay job but depends on location.
This is a fun place to work with great coworkers and an even better discount, however; the pay could be better and an added commission incentive would greatly improve sales and motivation.

I very much enjoyed this job, just the commute everyday was very hard to handle. It would take me almost 3 hours to get home via bus transit. I also was only able to get there 5 minutes late or an hour early. so I would have to leave much earlier then I needed to.
passionate about sports.
management goes above and beyond to help you fully understand what needs to be done, how to help you improve, and provide you with the steps to become a better associate. They are all astounding people with the ability to make the company above and beyond. It's an amazing place to be and I've been blessed with the opportunity to work at this establishment.
discount, employers, hours, people
the work environment was not welcoming, everyone except me was hired because of nepotism, the boss bill was a mean person and I could expect one shift per week maximum, maybe other stores different but don't work at the lime ridge location
Sportchek was my first real job, at first I absolutely loved the job but now working there for a couple years and the original staff leaving and new ones coming in I look for a new job everyday, the current management at my location are very discourteous. As for being a student and working part time the hours I'm given are unreasonable. However, the job is very easy to learn and i adore my coworkers .
work being done is fun and pretty easy to learn
It's a typical retail job where customers can either make or break your day. Some days are extremely slow, while others you can't even breathe it's so busy. The management is okay, and the work hours are relatively flexible. But the stress from customers can get to you.
Short lunch break, way too busy
Fun place to work, although the managers there were not friendly at all and expected a lot more out of their employees than was even possible at a sporting goods store. Pick favourites, and if you're not one of them you won't get scheduled and they'll be rude to you.
