Customer service isn't always a good time because people suck but the team atmosphere is generally a good one and as far as part time jobs go its a pretty good one

fun place for students to work. Excellent schedule accommodations. very professional work environment. have been here for 5 years and have had no complaints in my tenure

At sportchek there are multiple tasks you have to succeed in because there is always so much going on there. The management isn't the best. However the coworkers make up for it. I made forever friends through that job.

It is a great job if you're looking for part time but is very difficult to get 40 hours a week. The atmosphere was great to work in and usually very productive.

typical retail job, punch the clock and make sales (not commissioned) mostly part time hours and working with students. pays minimum wage but management is nice and the discount is good.

Managers definitely pick favourites, and if you tick off one, you get hours cut. 9 hour shifts with only 1 hour lunch break, no 15 min paid breaks. No anti-fatigue mats on concrete floors, makes for a long shift. Can be very cliquey and management is not good with time off requests even if made months in advance.

There was not much of advancement opportunity and my pay rate stayed the same. I believe my 4 years of experience and training abilities are worth more than a new hire. The culture here is amazing and management was very understanding.

Absolutely horrid place to work at. Do not even apply to this place, especially the Robson St, BC location. Management is awful and childish. They are very apathetic to HR problems that happen like sexual harassment, but they will write you up just for standing when there’s nothing to do. If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. It’s disappointing because the job itself is not difficult, but management is awful, thus making it not worth it. They love to play favourites and they are not afraid to show it. They treat everyone like children. Minimal pay makes the discount not even worth it.

Scheduling through Sport Chek is extremely efficient, and as most workplaces, management is dependant purely on location. Some are winners, some are far from it. The work available for a part-timer is fantastic for a high level athlete or a busy student, and additionally works well as a second job. Unfortunately, those who take on full-time roles in retail storefronts are not compensated much more than the part-time staff, with the exception of a benefits package and a couple more bucks an hour. This is notable as there is a STARK difference in responsibility between these roles.

I enjoyed working at Sport Chek. The hours were not great as they have so many part time employees, but they were good to work around my school schedule.

Overall customer service is key. We want to make sure that every customer comes in and has the perfect experience. We provide them with the knowledge that is needed for them to leave happy. Management is very goal and employee oriented. A great balance.

Hourly pay is less and no commission. Getting along with staff is easy. Fun place to work as long as your doing your duties right. No commission so no targets that's good.

The job was very strict. I enjoyed being busy and getting work done, but there was not a good employee-manager relationship and the pay was not enough for what other jobs in the area were paying.

The staff is okay and the pay is fine. The customers are the best part of the job. Helping people is a big part of the position. The cleanup at night is easy and quick.

If you're thinking about applying at sportchek, just don't waist your time with it. I have worked there for almost 2 years & I still am constantly not getting hours because there "isn't any". This has been an ongoing issue for months. There is quite a bit of pettyness among management, overall I have seen fantastic employees get treated not very fairly & they all end up finding a new job because there isn't any balance. Some weeks you can get scheduled not at all & other weeks people are working full time hours with not full time pay/ benefits. I feel like I'm competing against my fellow employees for hours which isn't right. They say we are suppose to be a team but it feels very one sided. Another thing is that quite annoying is when you see employees working harder then the managers. I'm my opinion if you're a manager you should be on the floor helping customers out just as much as everyone else is. Not sitting in the back doing jack all, all day? Not fair. People start to notice too & then that just causes issues of its own. I've learned a few things from working here 1) if someone hires you & they already seem disorganized with whatever it may be, don't take the job. If it starts early in the hiring process the chance of it continuing in indefinite. 2)don't let people take advantage for you, especially in retail. 3)obviously if you have an issue with someone talk about it with them directly, if nothing changes go higher up. I could go on & on, hope this review was helpful.

The staff taught me valuable people skills and product organization. This was for High school work experience. I also met some nice and welcoming staff.
