Sportchek is the most awesome workplace I ever had . Employees and most especially managers are too friendly , kind and approachable , they help you learn new things and helping you out everytime you have a hard time dealing with customers .
Is very good for students to work, as the schedule is very flexible and has very good discounts. But talking about process, is impossible to say that is a good way to go up. Always trying to leave you in a small position as long as possible.

- Fun workplace but it is a retail job keep that in mind - no commission - doesn't matter what department you are in if one doesn't have enough staff it will get assigned to you
flexible schedule, discount
I worked for sportchek for several years and stayed with the company because all three locations I worked at had fantastic people. The work-life balance is generally great for those who have an active lifestyle and sport commitments. They want you to care about these things and so in turn it's a priority to accommodate your extra-curricular activities. Can't beat the discount on gear either. Unfortunately, unless you become a Manager there's very little room for promotion or wage-increase. But if you're young and looking to get some experience under your belt, I recommend Sportchek.
Fantastic store discounts, lasting friendships, fun and active atmosphere
Annual wage increase is very small and not much room to advance
Absolutely horrid place to work at. Do not even apply to this place, especially the Robson St, BC location. Management is awful and childish. They are very apathetic to HR problems that happen like sexual harassment, but they will write you up just for standing when there’s nothing to do. If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. It’s disappointing because the job itself is not difficult, but management is awful, thus making it not worth it. They love to play favourites and they are not afraid to show it. They treat everyone like children. Minimal pay makes the discount not even worth it.

I work with great people I have very approachable and supportive managers I have grown as an individual through working there My work ethic has flourished I have been recognized for my achievements Although I don't feel I get paid fairly That being said, I never look for a job based solely off the wage, I need to be surrounded with positive people as well. Being with the company for so long I feel very appreciative to have had the opportunity to learn so much and money could never change that.
Good atmosphere (people and vibe), fun discount
Unfair wages, short breaks
SportChek overall is a great place to work, everyone is involved or interested in at least one sport so there is always something to talk about. Customers come into the store often unsure of what they are truly looking for, but once you are able to provide them with the information they need, even if they leave and don't purchase anything at that moment they will always leave more than satisfied with the service. More often than not at a later date the same customer you helped will come back only this time with their families, looking for information and to be set up with everything they need for their activity of choice. Nothing is more satifying. The hardest part of the job would be maintaining stock on busy days such as boxing day. Putting away stock becomes a task that seems almost impossible with the amount of stock that is in demand on the floor.
Monday To Friday, Weekends Off
Often overstaffed resulting in no work to do
- Typical Day: clean/maintain Sport Chek's standards of displays and back rooms - Learned: how to improve your activities with proper shoes - Management: well organized, put together, great communication - Co-workers: hard workers, great energy - Hardest part: not being able to give complete attention to customers during the busier times - Most enjoyable part: connecting with customers
Get to be around the latest shoes
Far distance to travel
Organizing staff/duties setting up for following ads most enjoyable part of the job working and chatting with great customers and knowing you helped with their transition.
very low pay for all the work i do
