Avis d'employé sur Sport Chek
Would not recommend
When I started at sport chek it was okay I was getting hours and was being paid over 15$ and hour. I have had 3 store managers now since I’ve been there in the past 2 years it’s very disorganized and we still don’t have a manager for cash. My pay has been cut twice without my knowledge or consent and I’m now being paid 14$ an hour. My hours also cut most shifts are 5 and a half hours with and unpaid 30 min break. I don’t make enough money tf or driving to work even be worth my time

I worked at Sportchek for just under 3 years and it was one of my favourite jobs. If you stay on top of your schedule they’re very accommodating. Most employees are university / high school students and we never had issues getting days off for class as long as you keep up with your availability. Hours depend on work ethic, managers can really screw you if they don’t like you. It also seemed like a popularity contest (I knew people who worked at several stores across Ottawa). If the managers didn’t like you, you never got shifts. Discount is amazing, it’s what I missed the most. The job overall is easy, I worked on cash and in clothing. There’s no room for advancement unless you want to be a department manager and they rarely promote from within the company.
Managers can be mean
When starting this job I had to wait a month after my interview and job offer until I started because they wanted to wait till their fiscal year started. With shifts randomly between 9am-10pm it was hard to get any family time. Having worked retail for 10 years prior I was brought in to be a regular associate with a starting rate of minimum wage and because I was desperate I accepted. After watching the management of 30+ year old males hitting on the high school girls that worked there I spent most days counting down the clock. Once I found another part time job with real pay I tried booking my regular scheduled days off with sport Chek but they kept booking me on those days and expected me to give up my well paying job or find someone to cover the day I booked off.
management, no hours, can't do anything without corporate permission
