The management staff try as much as they can to make every staff happy

No breaks on 12+ hour shifts. No accountability from management for anything; they’ll play favorites and blame it on lower level employees. No training; they’ll throw you right onto dispatch and get upset if you do anything wrong. No overnight premium for night shifts. No reviews on performance or any coaching; they will just write you up and expect you to figure out what to do to on your own. The hourly pay rate is low for this line of work; do yourself a favor and get a job (literally) anywhere else.

Absolute worst place to work

If your looking to work for untrained, absent minded people who don’t have a clue how to run a company, well this is the place for you.
You will be told how to do your job by people who have no clue what they are doing, you’ll get no training at all.
Just do yourself a favour and flip burgers! It’ll be far better then this place!
Zero breaks, pay is horrible, management is even worse.
Shocked the company is still in business. Truly feel for the people who use this service.

New Management Team

There is a new management team in place and i have to say the changes they have made are moving the company in a positive direction.

There is more work to be done but from what I see its all good.

Spectrum has been a great place to work since day one. I really enjoyed my co-workers and the management team was very supportive with my development. I would recommend this type of job for someone who is trying to get into emergency services.

I worked here for just over a month (started Dec 10, 2018) . In your contract they say that you get 4-6 weeks training... nope you get 1 week if that in class then you are thrown out on the floor by yourself. If you make a mistake you get screamed at. If you work 8 hrs you ONLY get 30 min break (smoke breaks are included in that 30 mins). The office manager and staff are so nasty and gossip about everyone. You will get told one thing and then get in trouble for doing it that way. It is so unorganized and unethical there. WORST place I’ve ever worked and I personally would not use the services provided by their company as I know first hand that the crews really don’t give a flying monkeys about their patients they are transferring. They will have a call booked at 1:00 for example and at 1:20 they still aren’t at the hospital and they decide they need to take a half hour break at timmies. If I could give it negative stars I would. Today January 24, 2019 I walked out of the office mid shift and quit. Have fun spectrum your going down hill very quickly

Really Bad Place to Work

Employees are regularly crying at their desks due to really cruel management. The managers are mean and bark at the staff all day long. Nobody wants to work here and the workload is overwelming. It is loud and confusing because there are no policies and every manager or supervisor makes up the rules and expects employees to follow them. One manager tells me to do something one way and then the next day another supervisor tells me something completely different. It is not consistent. We are told to tell hospitals that an ambulance is coming when there really is not ambulance scheduled. Management does not like the staff and they take out their anger on us.

Nasty Little Company That Does Everything Wrong....And Patients Ultimately Suffer

If there was ever an organization that helped contribute to poor patient outcomes and deeply flawed employee morale then you have Spectrum Patient Services in a nutshell.
In a short period of time with this company I was witness to a complete lack of organizational awareness around patient privacy, credit card privacy, human resource practices, basic management structure, emergency logistics, leadership and business ethics. It only took a few days to realize that this company was dishonest and treated its customers and employees with complete disrespect and contempt. Intimidation and incompetence seem to be the underlying management methods that keep customers in the dark and employees in a constant state of fear.
Front-line employees come to this employer with the best of intentions but are quickly subsumed by the gross incompetence of mid-level and senior management. In a short period of time I saw many front-line employees scarred by their experiences with management and the lack of organizational structure, training and operational policies. How is possible to run a dispatch/logistics centre in Hamilton without policies and procedures? How is it possible to have patient histories and credit card numbers randomly floating around without any lockdown procedures? How is it possible to operate a patient transfer service when dispatchers have no clue how to communicate with the fleet? How is it possible to run an organization that does not train staff on basic health care privacy methods? I could go on....
If you are considering a job at Spectrum Patient Services please
  plus... think twice about your choice. The economy in the province is good and there are many places to find a minimum wage job. I promise that you do not need this aggravation in your life even if you are truly in need of work. You can do better than this place. You have been warned.  moins

Since the start of 2018 this place has become a nightmare to work at. The Ops Manager for MTAs is hyper micro managing and is
spiteful and mean spirited. They fire at the drop of a hat or if they don’t like you. There is a clique like culture of some senior employees that are spies and yes men. The union is a sham.

**Avoid Spectrum At All Costs**

The office is the most unprofessional work environment I have ever had the displeasure of being in. The employees are seen as replaceable - they are not seen as assets. There is a constant underlying fear that you could be fired at any moment and seemingly without warning. I have never worked for a company that does not try to retrain before firing someone. There is lots of opportunity for advancement because the turnover is so high.

There is a stark lack of resources to assist employees when they have questions. The policies and procedures are non existent and when they decide to enforce a new policy, its enforced with constant threat of discipline before being forgotten about a week later
The hospitals they are contracted to are lied to consistently.

The overall office climate has an "Every man for himself" mentality. Management does not foster a "Team" environment. They encourage you to leave notes in the call to "cover yourself" so you dont get in trouble. They never encourage you to assist your team mates.

The current dispatch manager is a bully and believes that she is untouchable. She will consistently talk down to people as well as say terrible things behind their backs. She will stand in the middle of the dispatch floor and gossip about other employees and does not care who is around and who can hear her running her mouth. If you attempt to report any of this behaviour to HR or other management, nothing is done about it and employees are redirected to the problem person to attempt to resolve it on their own.

I cannot stress this enough; SPECTRUM DOES

Not a good place to work

Management team is bad, there's no common sense in most of them. When issues are raised to their attention they do nothing about it but pass it on to the next person below them who they can boss around. Most of the dispatch team is incompetent due to the lack of proper training this company sets out. Dispatch would work crazy 14+ hour shifts - lucky if you get break. Then be expected to be there bright eyed and bushy tailed the next morning for a shift. You could ask one person something and they'll give you one answer, ask someone else the same question and get a whole other answer - no one communicates, NOTHING is streamlined. They hire people who work HARD and push themselves (or who are willing to) for this company just to fire you when you won't be the "yes" man they want you to be. The head office is full of women and everyone acts as though they are still in high school. The place is a mess and nobody knows how to prioritize correctly. Stay away if you enjoy your sanity.

I used to dispatch here and the stress levels are through the roof, particularly when you factor in low pay, unfair expectations, lack of appropriate resources, and the worst benefits package I have ever seen (employees must pay 50% and the returns are still low) and you only get them after 3 months of work. The company even took away all the utensils and plates in the kitchenette from employees, citing the company going "green" (yet the company doesn't even recycle despite producing countless sheets of paper daily. Prospects of advancement are virtually nil. During orientation they are quick to identify one employee who has managed to rise the ranks quite well but she is the only one who has done so. In terms of positives, I find the employees themselves are good people who try to do the best they can and remain in good spirits, but with management constantly pouncing on any mistake made (despite a poor training process) morale is often at a real low. Every so many months the company changes its scheduling practices and offers no grace for employees who make plans and commitments around what they were believed to be working.

Do NOT work here if you enjoy your sanity. Management is terrible, and completely clueless, they ask you what your concerns are, and what needs to be changed, but they do not listen.

Its very cliquey, everyone behaves as if they are in highschool, with the dispatch manager being the worst of the bunch.

There is no sense of organization. I regret staying here for as long as I did, it is the WORST job I have ever worked.

You are paid the absolute bare minimum for a job that you should be paid at least $20-$25/ hr. You are expected to do your job, as well as management's. $14.50/hr is not worth the amount of stress you have to deal with day to day.

I could go on and on about how terrible this place is but its not worth it.

You're going to be paid minimum wage for a job that puts an excessive amount of stress on you. It's really not worth it. It's nice to know that you're providing an important service to patients, and you absolutely can move up and advance with the company, but you still don't get paid much more for it... It's just not worth it for the money they offer

Terrible work environment, unexisting management, employees are treated like slaves at minimum salary. Management barely cares about your health and safety. You are always running late because you would do a transfer and another one would be booked half an hour after the first one. No place for advancement. Would not recommend working there at all. You are never valued.
