Decent place to work

Great company to work for

Sobeys is a great company to work for. They respect & cherish their customers & employees. The interview process was thorough & I received my call back to find out I received the job within 24 hours. The pay rate system they have is fair & goes by job experience which is great. You get great benefits after 6 months & a raise every 3 months.

Disappointing

I at first was very well received and enjoyed my job but then got shifted into a position where I has no experience or training and would never have even thought of applying for. After struggling for a year my position was terminated, only to be called after almost half a year later to take a contract position for the job I was initially hired for. I did not return as I was already hired by another company full time/permanent and am extremely happy here!

The perfect place to work if you want to feel underappreciated.

Not a bad place to work if you dont mind short notice on scheduling, bosses always telling what you do wrong but praise is never received either verbally or monetarily. No morale or team building. Poor poor management.

Une aventure tous les jours

Travailler à l'assemblage de palettes de produits frais destinés aux épiceries partout au Québec fut un travail à la fois des plus amusant et valorisant. L'atmosphère de travail dans l'entrepôt Sobey's de Trois-Rivières est très coopérative et axée sur le bien-être des gens et de l'environnement. Le bâtiment constituant le lieu de travail est lui-même sublime et intelligemment construit, il s'agit d'une construction durable certifiée LEED niveau Or qui respecte même les notions de polution lumineuse... Pour dire! Tous les jours sont une nouvelle aventure au volant de notre transpalette électrique, des trajets différents au travers du gigantesque entrepôt et beaucoup d'entraide au besoin. Somme toute, bonne ambiance de travail, patrons humanistes qui ont la santé de leurs employés comme priorité, rabais et activités corporatives, assurances intéressantes, salaire attrayant qui permet de vivre au-dessus du seuil de la pauvreté, bourses étudiantes, beaucoup de micro-ondes à disposition des employés :p, grande cafétéria vitrée, terrain de basketball et proximité avec l'autoroute pour les traineux. Merci Sobey's pour cette belle expérience enrichissante !

I overall enjoy my job

I enjoyed my job but at times found lack of employees meant I had to do production which took away from my manager duties like restocking shelves etc

Was fun while it lasted

Very high turnover rate... new hires don't last the full 3 months no chance of advancement. The people are nice and helpful but there isn't a bond because you won't be lasting long

Bait and switch job offerings

Posted a ad and I responded, hired for another position instead. I wasn't too impressed as the job I applied for was more suitable. Lots of friendly faces and promises of good culture. Not being able to keep hydrated did it for me.

Typical Grocery Store

Meant to be used as a stepping stone, most stores and staff are extremely clicky, be mindful of who you choose to have life long friendships with, certain staff members are only there to create a toxic work environment for everyone else.

It seems like everything that we did in the deli was always in a rush but somehow we always did everything. A busy place but not very focused on the employees

A toxic place to work unless you’re management

Have worked there for numerous years as a student in desperate need of income, you’ll be hired at minimum wage and stay at that level unless you go to management (which never happens, management always moves from another store or friends of X family.) You’ll get a ‘raise’ as a benefit after working two years or so, getting 30-60 cents extra.You will always be undervalued, very little happens for customer harassment intervention. Your management of your department may be kind, and I’ve known a lot of nice managers, but in the end they’re stuck to the store rules and whoever owns the store.If you’re a student you will be treated as ‘lesser’ to others, and just as disposable. It’s not uncommon to see people get the job, stay for two to four weeks, and end up quitting due to this. There is always a line of desperate people to hire in their place, so you’re seen as a digit rather than a person.It’s definitely frustrating, especially with the pandemic as Sobeys continues to get more and more rich and yet the staff are treated with the same terrible standard. I will say that it’s a good place for people to get first hand experience on customer service matters and make them understand how vital and undervalued they are, but it’s not an environment that is supportive for any mental health or idea of self value.

Depressing place to work

It’s a great place to work for about a month because after that they don’t care about you anymore, before I left I was threatened to be fired twice for not making quota when I was in the office multiple times a week asking for help to get better at the job and I was laughed at and refused. I would not recommend this job to anyone. The schedule also says 3:00pm to 11:30pm but you aren’t allowed to leave until everything is done I’ve left at 3am in the morning.

Deli clerk

One of the worst places I worked at, no room for advancement unless you are the favourite, they have you do management work for minimum wage, cut your hours based on sales, would not recommend working here

No raise in over 5 years!Expected overtime without reimbursement!There WFM, Cao and are a joke! They round down on time punches!Temp logs/logs are fugged daily!Management and owner/operators are crooked! Everyone looks out for themselves, management encourages a tattletales, to allow drama!

If you want to work here be prepared to have a company care more about the money they make compared to your mental health.

When I first started working for Sobeys I was really excited. I got told I would be trained as we went on since I was in Floral. At the time I had a boss who was very nice and understanding. That boss ended up transferring stores and that's where everything went downhill. The new boss came in expecting me to know everything (even though I was not trained properly) this caused this boss to have high expectations that I could not meet. At the beginning of this year I was pulling full time hours. When corona hit I was forced onto the cash for grocery (without being trained) this was a lot for me to handle since I wasn't used to that department and the work load it had. I explained this to the store manager I said I would work anywhere needing help. Cash was just too much. They automatically cut my hours to nothing. I was out of my job for 2 months. When I returned my department was just opening up and my hours were cut in half... It was a bit before I was almost at my regular hours until the students came back from college. Then my hours got cut to less than part time (I moved out on my own and have bills that 4 hours a week will not pay for) my boss knew my situation and still cut my hours and gave them all to a student. I asked for an explanation but never received one until I did something wrong. The store manager and my boss pulled me into the office and bullied me, called me all these names and told me the reason for my cut hours was I didn't do the job properly. Which I didn't find fare enough because I wasn't Trained to begin with. Honestly my boss made me feel like I wasn't -

Horrible experience

I worked in a Sobeys Liquor location, manager was a joke, promoted someone with zero experience in management. Store manager is just a kid who doesn't know how to train nor how HR policies work. Tried writing me up for voicing concerns and even posted my position before I even decided to leave.

It was a total nightmare

I was hired as a overnight grocery clerk, the manager treated my like a slave. I had to work very hard, very fast , my co- workers just completed 3 weeks in that position and were totally exosted. 2 of them were resigning after 2 weeks . During interview they said I need to fill 3 isle but in work I had to fill almost I isle. My work time was 10pm- 7 am, but most of days I had to stay untill 9 am . They don't provided me any training or orientation, just said start working on one day and my co-worker was just 1 week experienced, neither they provided me any tools to open boxes, I had to open boxes with my hand and it really hurts when u open around 500 boxes , I got injured, still I had to keep working . I resigned after 1 week . It is very fastfaced physical demanding job, and pay is so less for the work you take . All breaks are unpaid .
