I feel there are not enough hours to go around and so it can be very competitive. It is a primarily female staff and things tend to get catty. There are many different schools within the board, the beauty of the job is you can change schools every year, the pay is good and the union takes relatively good care of you.
Environ 6 semaines à 2 mois pour avoir un feedback suite à l’entrevue de sélection. RH complètement désorganisés, inefficaces, irrespectueux des candidats. Allez travailler ailleurs, ça ne peut pas être pire...
I still think about it
Unfortunately, too many people who are not qualified for the jobs they were given (promoted to) have been running the main office. They are so behind on paying their substitute teachers on time, that the substitutes have left for greener pastures or other jobs entirely.
Directors trusts that you will be doing your job. They give you projects and help you when needed. For hard working people, it is great, but unfortunately lots of people take advantage of it.
flexible in and out times
Not enough supervision for the bad apples
Far too much job security in the workplace. Employees are able to challenge authority and largely refrain from preforming their intended objective without any repercussion. This has consequently degraded the quality and efficiency of work found throughout all levels of employment. There is simply a collective unwillingness to perform in a desirable manner. If there were less job security and higher wages, employees would be persuaded and consciously motivated to enhance their quality of work in angst of potential dismissal.
I was hired by the Sir Wilfred Laurier Schoolboard as a substitute teacher following my graduation. I enjoyed the flexibility of teaching here and there while still exploring other employment options. I enjoyed my time with the board and am also a prior student with them. They have a large territory and many different locations.
Très bonne organisation et la propriétaire de l'entreprise était très à l'écoute de ses employés (es).
Collaborative and professional, this workplace is bilingual and a great force for education in Quebec. I began as a supply teacher and was awarded contracts through professional excellence. It is a great work environment which puts kids first!
ongoing professional development
school populations are diminishing
School is a safe and enjoyable place for students to learn. Staff is available and willing to help all students. A balance between academics & ECA's
Socialize between faculties and not simply the department you work in. It allows for creativity and cross curricular activities and learning. It allows the teacher to think outside the box.
Free breakfast at times, . teacher appreciation lunch, Department get together, professional development. Being cooperating teachers and mentors to new staff.
Prioty of funding
