Très flexible pour les étudiants. Facile comme premier emploi et les collèges sont gentils. Les jours de la semaines sont très relax, il n'y a pas beaucoup de clients, mais durant les weekends, surtout les samedis, c'est très occupé. Ils devraient faire rentrer plus d'employés ce jour-là, parce que c'est beaucoup de stress à passer tous ces clients. Les clients peuvent être méchants quand la ligne est trop longue... En général, c'est une bonne job pour acquérir de l'expérience.

I was in the pharmacy, and the owner/head pharmacist is absolutely amazing. Sadly, a lot of my co-workers were rude to both me and the customers. It was stressful going in when you knew you were working with certain people who could just suck the joy out of the day.

You would think that employers would be understanding during the pandemic. But they aren’t. Shoppers is BOOMING during the pandemic. I’m sure they’ve hit record sales and yet favouritism is far too prevalent. If you say no to call-ins, you’re penalized, if you call in, you don’t get any shifts the next week. Even if you bring in a doctors note, they hold it against you. I disclosed my health issues with my manager and brought in a doctors note, I was assured that it would be kept in confidence, only to go back to work and be teased and made fun of for why I was gone. None of the management team took responsibility for it, they all denied it, and I was fired within 2 WEEKS of this incident. Coincidence?

I was told once I got hired, that I would be given a full time slot within the first few months. It’s been over a year and still nothing. Poor management as well as scheduling. Do not recommend working here.

Great job for teens and people in their early adulthood. My location always takes my busy schedule into consideration. During COVID getting hours is kind of difficult as a student, but the biggest issue it that the raise from cashier to supervisor is $14/hr to $14.15/hr. Yes. $14.15/hr. And fighting for higher than that is difficult.

Working at SDM was like fun. Well defined jobs. Same kind of job every day. No big changes and not very technical. Overall staff cooperation was good but management was little un supportive many times un reasonable.

I have always loved working for shoppers. But I did find it difficult to advance and get the training to be more. As someone who gave a lot of time. Coming in to help cover shifts and working on ceibel to advocate our gala and other events. I felt like I wasn't taken as seriously as I should have been. My work ethic was great as I was told lots. I do find as well that when it comes down to getting raises.. they are cheap.

I have had an enjoyable six years at SDM I have worked at two different stores during my time at shoppers and all shoppers are different it all depends on staff at the store.

Do you wanna be over worked and under appreciated then shoppers is the place for you the managers constantly put you down they literally treat you like shot every moment even if you do everything right I've had a few different jobs in my life and this was by far the worst

Working at Shoppers really depends on the associate owner you are working with. There is hardly anything manager can do for you and even the owner is micro managed by rules dictated from the HQ. They are most of the time understaffed and ask you work over your capabilities. There is not much space for improvement in the company and if it happens the salary and the work does not match. They expect even the manager to work as a cashier or merchandiser to save money for HQ and owner.

I worked at a smaller store, but after 3 years I can’t say I ever had any complaints. Management was really nice and helped me when I needed somebody to cover shifts, customers were always friendly and I rarely had angry people to deal with, and I became friends with the other cashiers pretty quickly. The job itself isn’t crazy demanding, but you’ll never be bored. Great place for a first job.

Depends on your locations some associates are awesome others not so much. Head Office is not supportive at all. As a manager I felt overworked and underpaid and there was no support system.

Toxic environment.... unreasonable expectations pressure to meet timelines that always change...lists are made for staff but then verbal direction is given but list is expected to be done also

In recent years Shoppers has been cutting hours like crazy so now you are expected to do the job of two people for the price of one. No raise in years because the associate felt I made enough. It used to be a wonderful company to work for until Loblaws bought it out. The increased work loads and decreased hours make it almost impossible to get your duties done. And they keep adding to the duties. Forcing customers to use self checkouts to make more profits is taking away jobs from those who need them. They demand so much for so little.

The management was horrible, the work environment was horrible and the customer service was horrible. My personal experience was that every time a customer had an issue "it was always me who was wrong never them". The customer treated me as if I wasn't even a person and the management's response was to suck it up. Even after I went to the doctor and they said I was too stressed because of my work my manager told me that if I wanted more relaxed work that I basically didn't have a job anymore so I quit on the spot. Probably one of the worst jobs I've ever had.

Back in June last summer I was working 30 hours a week and was happy because I was young and making good money I had a lot of flex between shifts and then once school started I started getting shifts till 12am that I couldn’t keep up with and now 4-10 hours a week

I worked here for a little over a year. I was recognized several times for my work and had many repeat customers say that they loved coming to me and one even said that I was the only reason they came. I was fired way too easily for an accidental violation of some policy so be careful of that. I don’t think it was fair how they handled that, but it’s their loss.

Being a cashier can be stressful especially during busy times, however, everyone at shoppers, including employees and customers, works as one big family which makes working there a worthwhile experience.

I enjoyed interacting with the public most of the time. When covid-19 came into play we had a much more interesting variety of customers come into the store to entertain us daily.
