I have had contracts at 8 colleges/universities around the GTA. Sheridan is the worst of them all to work for. The assistant deans are on power trips, they try to set up faculty for failure on purpose - they “cleaned house” and let go of experienced staff 8-10yrs working there - because they didn’t like people who knew what they were doing....with no notice they decide to not renew contracts to employees who have spent years there. They believe students over staff and undermine and question faculty. There is zero support and it is the most stressful and toxic work environment I’ve ever been too. There is no recourse for contract staff and no complaints process they all cover for each other and I would never recommend working for the department I was in... I am hopeful other programs have better leadership ....
Pay was adequate, hours good
No support, stressful, lies, set up to fail....

my experience at sheridan college was beyond what i hoped for. The working environment was always filled with room to improve along the way. My management team was outstanding! They guided you along the way to show you how to be the best at what you do.
I only worked at Sheridan part time but I loved every min of it. I was able to grow quickly in knowledge and experience working as a Desk-side support Technician. The only reason I moved on was because I found full time employment.
Great workplace, Met a lot of great people and the managers are very respectful and understanding. The pay is minimum wage and it can be difficult for a new student ambassador to get a lot of hours.
Friendly and Respectful work atmosphere
Very clean compound with lots of things and services to access. Staff are very welcoming and accessible, in addition they provide training.
It is good. I have learnt to network among a much wider group among numerous ethnicity. The management is very understanding. The work culture is one of care and looking out for the greater good. Living with the salary which could and should be much higher all things considered. The best part of the job is being able to assist students and their parents make a decision to attend the college.
Learned alot from being at Sheridan particularly in alternative energy and what Canada has in resources,Did a bit of everything from soldering, to putting in new service panels, trouble soot motors, even help worked on building a solar training equipment for students to work on in school. Part of the Government's Low Carbon Initiative. It was hands on which i enjoyed very much. i worked there on my free time between classes and sometimes stayed late to complete the task i was doing.
always something to learn new
sometimes waiting on materials to arrive or delayed
Being a Peer Mentor was an amazing experience. This is one I would encourage all students to apply for. I was able to work one on one with students, guiding them to success over their semesters. I helped students manage their study and personal time and find a balance that best suited everyone. It was a rewarding position.
helping students succeed, helping students understand assignments, manage their time and much more.
no cons this job was wonderful
I started working here to gain some exposure at the workplace in general and experience interacting with various students. My job title was International Student Ambassador and all I did was guide and help new international students get situated in their schedules and orientation at Sheridan.
Flexible work hours
