Good intro to health care industry and the bureaucracy there within. Friendly-enough people who I feel are mostly "in it" for the right reasons - helping marginalized groups access/benefit from their health care. Inclusive work environment. HR & Management not super re: transparency/ communication.
SHC has a union. Union does nothing for the employees other than take a portion of your wages. Once you earn too much money, due to yearly increases, Sherbourne finds a way to get rid of you. Management is horrid. They have zero respect for the people who do front line work. They don't give references but don't admit this, just put you off. Great place for a couple of years experience. Don't count on long term.
It was a good place to work, with great benefits. There were many good co-worker. It was a challenging population to work with over a very long period of time.
Good people doing good work
difficulty with middle managment

An excellent organization to work for. Operates from an anti-oppressive framework, thereby fostering and encouraging one's individuality. Enjoyed working with a diverse group of people and personalities. Open and friendly work environment.
- workplace collegial culture is warm and supportive - advanced skills around providing primary care and mental health supports in challenging and vibrant environment - opportunity to advocate for clients and create systems change -
incredibly fulfilling work
unsupportive senior management
My most recent full time experience occurred as part of the Urban Health Team at Sherbourne Health Centre, a collaborative client centered team. I provided services to a wide variety of clientele, with numerous physical and mental health issues. Many were under housed and under resourced and struggled with significant addictions, physical disabilities, and infectious diseases including HIV and Hepatitis C. I worked with the team at the laboratory collecting blood and other samples, performing daily data entry, laboratory result downloading to EMR, laboratory organization and cleaning. I worked with variety of ECG machines and various centrifuges.
