Interviewer made me comfortable and then he proceeded with questions. So I would say its quite conducive.

There was no interview process when I started working at Shaw.
I was initially hired through a temp agency when the company was going through a transition from analogue TV signal to digital. The demand for call centre workers likely would not have been filled easily and quickly at that time with the traditional process required to fill a lot of positions.

Interview process is first you apply , there is a online assessment ,a phone call interview ,than an in person interview.
