Management is out to make themselves look good to corporate. Said they had an 'open door policy' for staff, but listen to nothing employees have to say. Very unappreciative to staff that are over worked and very underpaid. Treat their Staff like second class, are heard talking about employees in a very unprofessional manner. Turnover is very high ... no respect. Don't call in sick!

I will never work for Shannex again , working with for 2 1/2 years caused me nothing but burnout and stress. Constantly being understaffed and everyone’s hard work is unappreciated. Management doesn’t care about the well being of their employees and think of staff as just number. This has been the worst company I have worked for , I would not recommend this company for a friend nor would I put a loved one in their facility

I took this job as a change of pace after struggling with an ongoing illness for the last few years. As a result of this I had sick days which were all accompanied with a doctors note. I was asked to provide an attending physician statement, which my doctor said was completely inappropriate to hand in. I went through a depressive period for two weeks, also covered by a note. My attendance was brought up again, which I understood was a concern, all backed by notes. My attendance improved and nothing was said to me. A new manager came into place and I was fired within a few days, saying that I did not pass probation after several months, The staff morale there is non existent, except for a rare few there who are actually working there. There are a few good managers, but that doesn't make up for the rest of them. Extremely disorganized. Staff feel that they never have enough resources to do their job efficiently. Short staffed. Several poorly educated workers. Poor pay. Go somewhere else.

- CCAs are underpaid - Seems to be more about speed than actual client care - Money grab - Residents were very sweet people - Dementia population can be challenging - Poor management, bullying is an issue

Busy diningroom table service environment. 1 1/2 to 2 hours of actual service. Lunch & dinner. Keep in mind no grats or tips at anytime. Seniors are friendly and staff is also friendly & professional!

Organization is so cheap. On the one hand they aren't willing to give an increase of even .25 cents to keep a highly skilled employee but will spend thousands of dollars in staff turnover. The organization speaks about how employee engagement is a main priority but most team building events are dedicated to managers and events open to all staff have "us" vs. "them" mentality.

not bad place to work , now unionised some issues with consistency of management, must have patience when working with seniors can be difficult at times but as well rewarding, not for everyone....

I have always loved working in long-term care. I love leading our team towards our short and long term goals. Seeing the team working together, for the benefit of our residents, is very satisfying. Providing optimum care and ensuring the residents are comfortable and content, is always the goal. Making it a feeling of "home", is just what the staff do. The hardest part of the job is working without sufficient numbers of staff. This only makes it more difficult for the other team members. The most enjoyable part of my job is seeing the resident content in their home. Seeing them making friends, communicating with others, participating in activities, and thriving as best as they can.

Nothing but pressure and additional work placed on already hard-working, exhausted good staff. And poor staff are somehow rewarded and NEVER held accountable for not doing their work. Lazy, hands-off managers who have no respect or compassion for residents. Worst professional work experience in a 25 year career.

it is great work experience other than the scheduling system, mandatory 2weeks days and 2 weeks evenings is not great with the budget specially if you are just starting a family.

If you want to work for an employer that makes you say "WTF" every 2 seconds Shannex is for you. They claim, it is clients first nope profits first. Is you have a grand,other or don't put them here

Unprofessional from the ground up. Preceptor told me to run on my first shift. Rude coworkers. Thrown under the bus for small things like simply asking a question about treatment of a patient. Don't question anything or you "won't be a good fit" and will be shown the door.

extremely low paying and anti-union but it's a good and rewarding place to work but just be advised that every other nursing home pays much more so it tends to be a giant revolving door.

I worked with elderly people every day and my day to day job gave me the ability to help make their lives easier. It was my job to ensure their maintenance requirements met and taken care of in a timely manner. Seniors needs are very different than others and it was my pleasure to help them in any way possible. My job was to maintain the property and surroundings for all residence but I was more than happy to do the little extras like carry their groceries to their apartments or help them back to their room if they got a bit lost. I enjoyed this work very much.

Overworked. Times working one person with 15 clients. Suppose to be 5 Star Treatment, but not given. Not allowed off the property during breaks. Management watch you on TV during the day, then call you if you sit down for 5 min.

A great place to work.I've learned so much things about clients behavior,and how you deal with them in times of their bad modes and so on, It was actually interesting to be part of their lives. I find that the hardest part of my job there is, when you work at night shift. you were there for 24 hours and not sleeping,it's tough job .However, you will be proud of your self as well, because you helped so many people and watch them 24 hours,making sure that they were safe and normally breathing.Management are very great to their employees and very understanding, they were very quick in solving a conflict with their employees
