Flexible hours where I can choose and create my own working schedule which is based on clients' need. For new nurses, it is a great learning experience to work here.

Like all places, there's good and bad. Coworkers you get along with, others, you don't. Plenty of education and training opportunities here. Even if you don't get along with all coworkers, you still work well together and can put differences aside. Not a typical catty atmosphere.

Use it for experience, then move on to other opportunities. Poor pay, not treated well, difficult position, little opportunity to advance, need to use your own car for transportation - just not worth it

Regret ever applying there. Very poor management. High turnover.
Supervisors dont solve the core problems. Lots of work was unpaid. Wear and tear on car was expensive personally.

The patients in community are usually good, however there is no work/life balance included in working in the community setting. The community nurses are not paid very well for the amount and type of work that is included in community work. The culture in the workplace is not as positive and supportive as it should be.

Working with people in the community was by far my most enjoyable work experience in my twelve year nursing career. Coordination, like most home care agencies, had its fallbacks when I worked there as many were not familiar with where they wanted to send you. You spend a lot of your personal, unpaid time coordinating your own schedule, calling clients, drs, other nurses and case managers. Overall, I highly recommend SE because the staff with incredibly helpful and provided you a lot of opportunities to gain education and on the job training and certifications.

There are good and bad things about this company. It is not for everyone. some people are happy there and many others are not. Some days are very difficult due to long hours and having to drive very far with inadequate compensation.

SE is very driven to ensure that all their staff is competent to provide evidence based care to their patient population. Great place to work. Would recommend working here.

we can work according to our time frame. it's a very relaxed job. we can select the area according to the nearby location. supervisor and coordinators are very supportive

I have nothing bad to say about my job here. This is a rewarding job, with awesome supervisors! The management really appreciates the workers and is very supportive. As a community shift nurse, I feel very fulfilled providing care in clients homes. The families of the client are so very appreciative of the care that I provide to their loved ones. I am so happy that I took this job!

Good place to work, able to set own schedule. Learned a lot of skills working for SE. Management was helpful in supporting nurses in community. Met some wonderful patients and their families.

Management worry more about the money they get per client. They don’t care about the clients’ satisfaction and the staffs’ well-being. It’s all about the money. They don’t pay you right. You’re paid per client (half the hour) not per hour. Below average wage. You chase for your money you worked for because they keep missing your hours. They most of the times don’t pay for the travel time and play a blind eye.

Working with SE has given me the benefit of diverse client care experience in the GTA. The scheduling flexibility has allowed me to work day or nights or diem.

As a full time shift nurse who worked exclusively nights (as there was not enough staff to provide service to a client who required 24 hour care) ... I am truly appalled and embarrassed for a number of reasons:

1. Witnessing first hand the daily anguish and stress put upon the family care giver who relied upon this company for staffing. Shifts could not be filled because the company pays well below the standard rate of pay for RN's (thus the turn over). The inexperienced staff sent to this home was dangerous for the client in terms of patient safety which caused undue stress upon the family, as staying up 24 hours a day to care for their loved one should not EVER be an option.


2. The families (as always) are a pleasure to work with and it broke my heart as an RN with a BScN, who values my education and takes pride in providing quality patient care, watch this company hire inexperienced nurses who lacked the specialty training for this particular client. This not only sends the message that the company is just trying to fill the position to get paid by the insurance company, but also that the health and well being of the client is not a priority. Nurses would put their time in to get "more hours" and would apply for other jobs because they didn't feel valued as they were not paid the industry standard for like positions. This frequently left the client starting from scratch with new staff which was extremely stressful.


3. There is absolutely no communication between the managers who are directly responsible for the staff in their respective units. Communication goes

I meet different type of clients with diverse backgrounds. I learn a lot from these interactions. its a lot of travelling with no traveling time paid.

In community health care, nurse goes from home to home providing nursing care. The nurse provides wound care, IV therapy, dressing, patient care, medication, chronic/pal care, and so much more.

Luckily my supervisor was nice, she at least listened and tried to accommodate my request. I Alize later this place also gives you heavy work load clients if you are A new hired. Forced to pick up night shifts. Pay wasn't good .. don't want to go back

Ill trained mgmt. upper supervisors NOT NURSES so you can guess what that does. So the shortage that was predicted is compounded by the stakeholders and far removed decision makers. The solution ? Put the RN back in the office , guiding coordinators, RN in the SDC supervisor role, TRAIN those supervisors how to do their jobs! Keep the trained near retirees in roles where they can teach staff ,and support the culture!!!!!! Elevate the perception of the role of the COMMUNITY NURSE in the office and the public. Its misleading to call patients clients. It will never be a buisness transaction to give care. Think about how the RN/RPN and the patient feel giving care to a buisness client. Its like a handshake, not a comforting cool caring touch on the forehead. The term was supposed to have reverted back to patient from client but was never done. WHY? Yes it takes time to organize nurses in their decision making. But it can be quicker and more valuable than whats going on now.This agency has fallen victim to shallow brand stamped health care and its structure is very weak.|The RN/RPNs are great but thats not enough.
