Terrible

It was a struggle wanting to go there from day one, all the employees miserable and not wanting to work at a place where concerns and problems not cared about. Many times things were brought up to a manager even by multiple people they “forgot” came up and talked to them. Extremely unforgiving in family emergencies or injuries, on one occasion after dislocating my knee in rugby I was told that I should just “push through, and not make my coworkers pay for my mistake” or when my uncle passed on I was told that I couldn’t go to his funeral because my work should take “precedence” I hated every day miserable managers just pushing their eight around because there lives aren’t what they dreamed they made everyone else feel no importantance

Decent starting job

Overall not a terrible place to work when starting out, you learn task managing and communication skills, dealing with customers on the daily. Can be physically demanding lifting heavy boxes and on your feet all day.

Fun, family like feel to employees

I loved working at Save on foods as i developed strong relationships with coworkers, supervisors and even customers. The way it worked was that it was a unit, If i was done my wheeler or my deck in stocking and i saw my coworker struggling and falling behind i gladly helped him or her finish as they would do the same for me. There was times when i worked for free for a few hours and stayed late to help out fellow employees. We give to the customer and all of us strongly believed that the customer should get what they want even if that meant losing money on a transaction. I never really ran out of energy because the whole work place is very sociable and the people i worked with were great. It really wasn't work and I often miss working there.

Points positifs

flexible work schedule, break every 2 hours

Points négatifs

management changes every few years

Bakery Life

I worked at Save on for a couple years while I was attending school. I always ended up working on school days late at night and that affected my marks and had to give notice because it was effecting my grades. The management is great, Fun to work with, and extremely helpful. If you are not attending school I would recommend them.

Slow, Awkward.

First 3 days of training everyone was all nice, friendly and helpful. I learned right away there was a "3 strike" rule. I got my first one at 5 after 7 in the morning for a training shift. I waited outside for half an hour. (Had to be there a little early) Because new employees don't get the code to the door. I tried calling but no answer and a few minutes after my shift started my trainer came out and gave me my first strike for being late. My other 2 came from almost that exact reason. There were bugs all over and underneath the tills, it was impossible to do a good cleaning job with nest of bugs everywhere. Other cashiers weren't helpful, there was no training for messes, holdups, or techincal issues. I am doing online schooling so i applied for 30+ hours a week. I got maybe 12 a week. And the days that they called me in on my off days, they would call at 7am or late at night. The worst thing of all though, I was working and had about 2 hours left on my shift and I had started puking on my break. What did my manager say? "Go wash your hands you only have 2 more hours." HELLO, I'm barfing, this is contaigous, and you want me to keep on handling peoples produce and house hold items? EW. I hope my future job is a little more straight forward and understanding of new workers and has some sanitary boundaries. This was my first ever time working legitimatly and not just volunteer work. And the experience was brutal.
