Terrible work culture

Management has favorites. If you are thin you get whatever you want from the senior Management staff. Union doesn't protect you at all yet you get fees taken off every check. Management is extremely gossipy and talk about who they don't like constantly. Zero assistance in actually learning your job. Extremely unhealthy place to work.

Points positifs

One good looking guy working there

Points négatifs

Emotionally draining

Keeps you busy

I'd say the hardest part of the job is not having enough workers. It's really hard to fire people. They seem to only care about their turn over rate than people with good performance. Instead of putting someone in a different department I had to work twice as hard to pick up for someone else work. Not fair at all. Management makes questionable choices and doesn't even help, they look at my department and just walk by and do nothing. That's the attitude at this location. I'm still learning lots everyday and I'm growing as a person, I've developed even better leadership skills as I already have management experience from previous jobs. I've build a really good relationship with my team members and I value them and respect them greatly. That's the most enjoyable part of the job, is the people that make the workplace awesome. As a full time worker, I'm also guaranteed 40hrs. Job security. It's really not a bad place to work, it's safe, clean, and a really good starting job for anyone that's new.

Points positifs

Team member exclusive free item every week 10% discount

Points négatifs

Management needs work or fresh people, old ones stuck in their old ways

Productive and hard work

Excellent opportunity to do the difference in the world by helping people on a daily basis which makes you feel a great person and grown internally. It's a hard job but becomes easy after a while. If you are an observer person you will learn a lot with your manager and other colleagues who are true friends.

An ok job if looking for a part-time position

I work in the produce department, and a typical day at work involves quality checking products and making sure all of them are in good condition. Its all about checking and discarding the bad quality/expired products and just restocking everything. Then when you're done you record EVERYTHING that is wasted to make sure it gets put in the system, so they can see the expenses of all that's wasted. That is the main thing to do in the entire produce department. Let alone all the other side chores you have to do, such as sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, changing price tags, sanitation, etc. Now imagine trying to do all that within 4 HOURS. There's a lot of work to do, especially for the small shifts they give you. Most of the time I barely get any hours and I'd be lucky to get over 20 hours or more.Management is strict and expect you to do and finish all your chores. They want you to be fast and accurate with your chores, yet if I do that, my duties and responsibilities become sub par. I even experienced a few employees lose their jobs due to them being slow, even though they've been here less than 3 months. The benefits are alright, you get 10% off groceries or 30 times the points from the rewards card. They also sometimes give out free food in the lunch room and you also get some in the team member offers from the rewards card. But they do also have cool stuff in their team member website, such as wellness programs, courses and other stuff to read and learn about, training videos, and other useful links and information. Overall, Save on Foods is good if you're looking for part-time -

Points positifs

Free food/items sometimes, mostly flexible schedule, Team member website

Points négatifs

short shifts, barely any hours a week, strict management, workload
