When it comes to training, you're on your own. They provide the opportunities for advancement, if it suits what they need. Personal development is sparse and productivity is #1, despite having unrealistic goals to achieve. They expect you to know your job, give you a print or a welder and told get to it. There also is no job security. They get rid of people they don't like by releasing them without cause. All you have to do is look at someone the wrong way or get emotional at the wrong time.
Long hours, when you get them, contract changes without your consent or agreement, no job security, poor safety record (everything is polished for a client or OH&S visit, then it's back to the regular grind), no career opportunities as they will shuffle you around where they see fit and if you don't like it, they fire you.
This is the most toxic environment I've ever worked in. It's full of double standards , poor organization and terrible leadership.. certain workers seem to get away with treating everyone like dirt and bossing their peers around. Safety comes second to profit and it clearly shows. This place will make a happy easy going person into a miserable one real quick it drains you.
Its a job
No integrity, managment constantly lies, they reduce wages often, lead hands are extremly prejudice against canadians
When i worked there it wasn’t bad but i just didn’t enjoy the work . They were in the process of changing things management wise so hopefully things are better . The shift was two weeks on days , two weeks on nights . I worked with them through a hiring agency so i wasn’t from the area and being away from my family for 6 weeks and one week home wasn’t worth it for the money .

Not a bad place to word if you don’t mind dealing with a lack of intelligence, organization, management with no clue and being lied to on a daily bases. Also the opportunity of getting serious injured because they are not even close to set up properly for erecting these projects, or have the know how. Putting them together is always an after thought. Almost like they are surprised that they had to even though they signed the contract to do so.
Company run like a dictatorship. Facility only set-up for 14 computers, I was the 15 computer. Computer system continued to crash. I got the blame from Director of HR. You developed a Safety procedure and half way through the system would crash deleting your work. Lots of pressure to have Prequalification networks functioning. Company wasted a year to have the system functionating running but failed. I was hired for two reason - One was a project in Northern Ontario and to solve the prequalification issues. I wouldn't work there again
Great team to work with. Ambitious. Continuous Improvement. Growth. Very understanding and committed to the people. Fair and support work life balance.
Competitive Wages. Benefits. Excellent team. Committed to people, growth and continuous improvement
I use to work there as Detailing and project manager, it has a good atmosphere and also a keen top management For new challenges . If you consider yourself as experienced in steel fabrication area , you are right fit there , or if you are a guy keen to learn and challenge your knowledge, this place is still fit for you. Only problem there is location , which is far from big cities.
By far the worst management I've ever seen. The shop floor was run by very nice but unqualified, inexperienced lead hands and supervisors. The office management would come down and have meetings with all the shop floor employees about how poor the quality of work was or how slow we were working. Nothing good enough.
Employees on shop floor are very friendly
To many to list
It was hard to work here as there was a wall built between management and the workers. No security. Great people on the floor to work with. Wide variety of things to learn but no consistency in the training.
close to home
great divide between management and floor workers
You want to lose your self respect and dignity go join Saskarc. Apart from a CEO who is usually traveling, unfortunately the Leadership and Senior Management were the worst and most disrespectful experience ever. The two brothers in the Leadership are the one who runs the show and bring all the dust on job specially the one who looks like a giraffe, acts like Hitler and feels very powerful in the company.
Middle of no-where, diverse job responsibilities, no KPIs in real
Too much insults and disrespect
If you are someone who feel bad and hurt if you are discriminated or see discrimination this is not the right place for you. I have been discrimination here, I have seen discrimination here, coworkers/Managers even make fun of people based on body structure - fat, age, female, thin, short, etc. Do remember being a family owned business, you can't bring your voice like you do in public or multinational companies, etc. The only one's who are written up by HR are the ones Managers are trying to kick out for another reason.
People from different cultures in shop and in office
discrimination at its best
This Family/community based business is a great company. The management were easy to collaborate with. Open to change and working to grow the sky is the limit for this up and comer.
close knit community
Part-time workers would enjoy working here, their starting salary is good for someone who will be working for 3 hours a day, 5 days a week. You can also work full-time during the summer months, you'll learn more about the trades if you're willing. Co-workers are the best with the typical bad bunch. The only hard part of the job is during summer where you and two others are tasked at cleaning the blast shed and blast hut. They offer training for welding, forklift and crane operation, and mechanical stuff. Management is pretty flexible for their employees.
Excellent company and folks to work with. Always a pleasant experience. They look after you and provide ample opportunities for advancement and growth!
A lot of care is taken for employees at a personal and professional front
It is a great place to work if you are looking for experience. The location in Oxbow is remote and relocation can be an issue
There is a lot of room to learn. I learnt a lot of things about heavy constructions and Project Management. My co-workers were excellent and it was a great learning experience. The hardest part is understanding the protocols as the company has none.
