Sales Representative in Hamilton, ON
Terrible for a mom
The only reason why I got the job and lasted as long as I did was because the manager and other employees at the time held my hand the whole way. They were understanding and patient with my ADD and not having help with my kids and trying to fit it in the schedule. However in the end the workload became overbearing over time and the flexibility in hours became less, we even had to close the store a few times because the girls from other stores couldn't/wouldn't help. The worst mistake they made was getting rid of everyone in head office, people who worked hard to get where they got just to replace them with people who had college degrees and no idea on how the stores ran or any idea about the products. I even took it upon myself to write a 10 page letter to the CEO on how terrible things had gotten and what needed to change.
Store Associate in Lethbridge, AB
Worse job I ever had
The store in Lethbridge Ab. Canada has so much potential but removal of current management would be a must for store to be beneficial for staff and customers. It could be so much more.
A great place to learn and have fun at the same time
A very good organization with many on-line learning tools to help employees improve themselves and their work. However, like any organization, it also depends on the type of manager you end up with. With this said, I did have a challenge with my manager and my manager's manager actively engaged to help in its resolution.
Store Manager in Newmarket, ON
Great for starting up
I loved this job when I first started. It was fun, you get a great discount and learn about lots of different products. I then moved up to store manager, and my former District Manager was amazing, he taught me so much and really pushed me to be the best version of myself I could be. But once he left, the current District Manager has been absolutely horrible to work for. She speaks down to you and makes you feel like you aren't very good at your job. She has training store managers and captains that provide us with the company directions, but they are often not on the same page as the DM, and when I tried to bring this to her attention she threatened to get upper management involved. I also felt that many of the store managers (including myself) were asked to do things that were outside of our job description quite frequently, since we are constantly short staffed due to Store managers always leaving. I have noticed in recent years that this company no longer promotes employees from within; they almost always hire from the outside. This is a great place to start out, but there isn't much room for financial or professional long term growth.
Sales Associate in New Brunswick
Worse job ever.
This is actually the worse job ever. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to have a good balance between school and this job. You will be expected to have a 24/7 availability for this job, even tho you were hired for a PART TIME job. The management is HORRIBLE. They treat you like an option, it is incredible. I worked at 2 different locations and one of them was actually really great, the manager was an incredible woman she cared about her employees. The other one made life really difficult for everyone, and the wonders why her employees keeps leaving.
