If you are working outside of Toronto, need not apply. The account manager only checks in when she feels she wants to which results in staffing issues on the daily. Limited training and support for the supervisors. Upper management are fantastic and have a good vision. Client Director needs to move along to hopefully breathe new life into this company. Hired and forgotten.

Difficult upper management, very hard place to work as the office is very unorganized and mangers are very unpleasant to deal with. No room for advancement. Not a welcoming work environment. Salary is quite low for the duties security supervisors are expected to perform.

Company expects way too much from its employees for very little in return. Low wages for way too much stress. Employees are treated very poorly and always made to feel guilty when taking days off for personal or sick days. No paid sick time, hard to achieve benefits.

The company is indifferent towards employees. There's no transparency between management and employees, which means that the employees are left do figure out things on their own. No opportunity for growth and development within the company. If you want to build and grow your career, this is not the place for you.

I have worked for Russell security and so have my friends. I say this company is still in business today only because of International Indian students. Around 400000 students came to Canada in last three years. They belong to middle class families from Punjab India. They work very hardest to pay their bills. Most students have hard time time in getting a job. Russell is taking advantage of the international Indian students and offered them job. Indian students have no choice and can’t complain about poor working conditions to Russell and even if they do there wouldn’t be much done about it by management. In my personal experience Russell does not care about their employees and be ready to work at the night time in a cold environment and rainy weather. There is no career growth. If Indian students go back to India then Russell will have hard time and pay the double of the pay what they are paying right now. Russell pay little but expect big work. Work is hard and difficult and have violent situations to handle sometimes.

My supervisor changed over 5 times in the 1 year I worked here.
Management was never really helpful. The job wasn't fun.

Management didn't really care about employees as long as the chair was full. The company will have you work a lot more hours than normal because of the high employee turnover rate and problems finding employees.

Not a good company to start of with. They didn’t seem to care about thier employees. They do not keep on track at sites nor with uniforms, missed some pay and did not get payed on the day i was supposed to.

Worked at the ajax location. Lots of unnecessary paperwork. it felt more of a secretary position than security position but not even good pay. every thing you do, you have think about paperwork. lots of people, some of them have no respect. 14 hr shifts were stressful as well.

There is no room for advancement. Very high turn over rate I've seen in any company. Management is disorganized. High stress and volatile work environment. Pay is low for the work expected to be done by the guards. Lack of training. Poor working conditions for employees. You’re on your own for most situations and can't expect help from management. I can't recommend this company.

Russell security's management doesn't do much to improve their employees working conditions. Management is ad hoc and self contradictory. Training offered is minimum and doesn't really help employees at their sites. Not much in the way of benefits.

The pay is quite low when compared to what I was earning before. Their expectations are super high. You barely get a choice about where you will be placed and what your shifts will be. You are just expected to keep your head down and agree to whatever they say.

My overall experience with Russell was negative. They placed me at random retail sites across Ontario every month and claimed it was an opportunity for advancement. Training was pretty mediocre and you're on your own to deal with situations with 0 backup. Management wasn't reachable and I had issues with my paycheck. I quit the company after few months.

First they place you at these ridiculous sites then they do not fight for you when you are remove for no reason. This company is more about pleasing there clients rather than making sure their employees are happy and comfortable. Ps hr & scheduling is bad!

Job was stressful, low pay, and stuck with know it all supervisors that like to boss the guards around. Paycheck was never correct and full of deductions listed as "others" and no one from management explain me why. They're also extremely cheap and will find every way to not pay your statutory holiday pay and vacation pay. They lie about reimbursing you for shoes also. Lots of staff turnover because you're promised alot but they don't follow through.

The staff at RSSI are rude most of the time and seem unwilling to help security guards who call them for questions and clarifications. The job schedule is very unpredictable since they send you to a different store every single month all across Ontario. They also failed to provide me with a full security guard outfit due to shortage in stock even though its been months since I joined them. But they already took $750 for full security guard outfit from me which is so expensive.

The employees are never right in the eyes of the managers. They don't provide us with any quality training, yet they expect too much from us. The company also doesn't provide extra pay despite the current pandemic. What's worse is that the pay wasn't that good in the first place.

This company is a joke. They treat their security guards like blind servants. I battled and fought for my docked wages and vacation pay, which I'm only getting because I no longer work there.
They forced me to work extra hours, most of which I was never paid for.

Their phone sign-in system is terrible and never work right.

All four of the security supervisors stroll in whenever they feel like and does nothing to address the concerns or issues brought to their attention time and time again.

I remained at this company for years hoping it would get better and it got worse and worse to the point where I didn't care if I ended up homeless I was not going to take their abuse for any longer.

Russell security’s North York head office should be investigated for their treatment of their employees, workplace bullying, violations of the employment standards act and their famous habit of docking wages from employees without reason.


So happy to be done with this company.

When I was hired by this company they told me its a permanent full time job. First couple weeks were okay but then my hours started to get cut. Instead of giving 40 hours a week they started giving me 16 and sometimes 8 hours a week. I am a single mother with three children and I was depending on this job. During the hire they also promised me so much like high pay, good benefits, yearly pay increase, show allowance, security license reimbursement. But it was all empty promises as I never received any of it. I also noticed that they made random deductions from my paycheck which I'm sure is illegal to do in Ontario.

They let me and a bunch of other security guards go after a few months of working for them. All laidoff. They hire only for short term even if they tell you its permanent full time. Seems like mass hires and mass layoffs are how this company operates.
