Great people and great place to work in. Everyone is very down to earth. it was great to have a professional display manager that would drop in to make changes in the store to keep it fresh. That also allowed us to learn the best ways to display products.
Conestoga mall is the worst location ever Do not ever work there The manager is horrendous She has a terrible attitude She would rather sleep with the male staff They allowed a young employee to be sexually assaulted and nothing was done to the male staff member who did it to her
I worked at Roots during my college years part time and some full time. Couldn't have asked for a cooler place to work, the staff were amazing and we all got along very well. Dealing with lots of customers, some slow periods so expect to fold and tidy the store. Hours are good, customer are easy going (it’s Roots) and the mall has good food options for lunch. Overall great experience and I would recommend it to anyone looking for part time work.
Optimal for students or people with other obligations/forms of income. Culture requires like-mindedness due to small store footprint Close-knit family-like atmosphere Clients are mostly loyalists, be prepared to love Roots gear
Roots actually is not a bad place to work. But it was stressful. Daily sales target and weekly meeting/talk are very tiring. Roots is a very good place to learn tho. You can bravely up your confidence. Need to talk to people all time as you wan to make the daily goal
I worked at Roots Coquitlam (United Blvd) as a Sales Associate. The store manager there is unprofessional. He also displays favoritism among staff. If you are not one of his 'favorites', he will treat you like garbage. He will also not give you any chance to move up even if you are one of the top performers. He'd rather promote those lazy staff who sucks up to him. He expects you to admire and worship him in order to be one of his 'favorites'. And also he does not allow you to call in sick. He will demand a doctor's note for ONE sick day off. He should be fired.
I really enjoyed the work here. I liked working with customers and many of the staff. The manager was a complete turn off from working there though. One minute she loved you, the next minute she hated you and threatened your job. You were not paid well for the amount of your you do. The manager expected you to spend your own time, not getting paid to complete training. She also would gossip with other employees about you in order to try and dig up anything you might be doing wrong. The manager even yelled at staff in front of customers. She is completely unprofessional. If not for the manager I would love to have continued to work there.
Management, minimum wage.
I came to Roots from a really hostile work environment. The management as well as the rest of the team were extremely welcoming and included me quickly into their Roots family. I finally felt wanted and comfortable and wasn't made to feel bad if I needed to call in sick.
extremely flexible hours, purchase incentive
only part-time available
The work is exciting because the product is exciting. But management is weak, you will never have a weekend off nor will you have two days off in a row. The people who remain here are dedicated but growing tired.
Long hours, low salary, bad management
Roots is a good company to work for, they offer a relaxed non competitive work environment. The company culture is shifting to a more millennial, younger customer.
I had an overall positive experience while working at Roots. Management was very supportive and the work environment was relaxed and welcoming. As a seasonal associate I was able to learn a lot in a short period of time to benefit my overall retail training.

Nothing but good things to say about Roots, always feel appriecated, the Management team across the whole Province of Alberta works as a team, will always motivate you and fight to get you where you want to be in the company. Very easy to move up within the company, with an amazing DM to help you every step of the way.
Very inclusive workplace, and reinforcement of positive work behaviour. Management is very easygoing and understanding of personal life/work balance. Overall an extremely intuitive job where skills are easy to pick up on.
