Simple, fun, nice people
Station Host (Employé actuel) –  Vancouver, BC14 mars 2018
Everyone is great, they treat you fairly and make sure you're okay. Typical morning you check people in and talk and smile and engage with the guests. Workplace is very multicultural. The best way to get through this job is if you're already happy yourself! Waking up very early and cheery is one of the aspects you should have.
Points positifs
they give you great service with lunches, compensate
Points négatifs
short hours that are split shift, hard to find someone cover your shift

Employee pay leaves a lot to be desired
Luggage host/Destination host (Ancien employé) –  Kamloops, BC10 janvier 2018
Overall the company seems to care more about their guests then the employees. Front line employees are paid peanuts and have to take the fall for any errors
Points positifs
Flexible hours, free trip after two years of service, occasional dinner
Points négatifs
Pay isn't great

Onboard Host (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC20 novembre 2017
The company itself is full of passionate invdiviuals, but is very cliquey and judgemental especially at the management level.
Nepotism runs rapid within the onboard sectre.

Seasonal, out of town, long hours
FIRST COOK (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC2 novembre 2017
You spend 4 or 8 days out of town. The company pays your hotels but otherwise you spend 10-18 hours on the train per day.

The views of the Rockies are incredible, however the disturbance of your life sometimes isn’t worth it
Points positifs
You see the Rockies
Points négatifs
Disturbs your life

Good
Senior Business Intelligence Analyst (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC24 octobre 2017
ndeed has amazing healthcare and benefits packages, in addition to an open and fun work environment. No complaints about the caliber of employees; however, the company is growing rapidly and experiencing it's own growing pains. You MUST be comfortable with EVER changing strategy and goals, and slow career growth.

I worked as HVAC Techician for this company.
HVAC Technician (Ancien employé) –  Kamloops18 avril 2017
Good bunch of people to work with. Work at a steady pace. Reasonably safe place to work. Paid lunch breaks. You work nights with working 12 hours for three nights with four days off in the running season. Off season work days 10 hours for four days. Not much overtime. If you want a job locally in Kamloops where money not a concern with time off to do things then the job is for you.
Points positifs
Work 3 12 hour nights a week
Points négatifs
Pay not up to industry standard for HVAC. RSP not that great.

Great staff, seasonal, great brand and service.
Warehouse Worker (Ancien employé) –  Kamloops, BC6 novembre 2016
A great place to work. A leader in its class, glad to have been part of it.
Hardest part of the job. Seasonal. Stop work during winter. Trains don't like deep snow very much.
Mainly night shift that rotated to day shift towards the end of the season.
Points positifs
Great management and staff.
Points négatifs
Wages are terrible but they mostly all are in Canada.

Sales in a high end tour company
Vacation Consultant (Employé actuel) –  Vancouver, BC1 février 2016
A typical day at Rocky Mountaineer can be very hectic. Call volume can be very high on a typical day, so most time is spent selling on the phones and using our reservation system.

There is of course follow up and file maintenance that is done on a daily basis.

On days that the train is running we can go and greet our guests and wave them off on the train. This is my favorite part of the job, connecting with guests and being part of life changing experiences.

Best Company I have every worked for by far!
On Board Attendant (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC27 avril 2015
Rocky Mountaineer is known for its amazing five star customer service and food. Along with many other things from our luxury train travel full of amazing scenery and great story telling and commentary along the route. Its is an everyday learning process on and off board the train. I have learnt a number of stories and historical facts about the areas we travel in beautiful British Columbia and also in Alberta. Travelling through terrain that early explorers travelled through when first settling in our province.
Rocky is always providing room for advancement for their employees and they always make you feel loved and welcome back each season. There is nothing like meeting new people everyday at work people coming from all different parts of the world. With the sheer beauty of the train and the excellent service provided we make life changing experiences for our guests. I could go on and on about the love and passion I have for the organization but I would eventually run out of room.
Points positifs
free train trip for two on board in our Silver Leaf Service, Travel on boad the train, become a member of the train family, everlasting frinedships
Points négatifs
long hours, sometimes under stressful circumstance

Good company
Guest services (Ancien employé) –  Banff, AB2 juin 2014
Rocky Mountaineer is a five-star product with respect to what the guests experience on board the train. Sadly, the train is perpetually late throwing the ground staff into an unbalanced, reactionary state of operation. The people who work for the company are hard working and dedicated, for me, that was the most enjoyable part. Management recognize the efforts of their staff.

I've worked for worse
Prefer not to say (Employé actuel) –  Vancouver, BC18 mars 2014
Overall a moderately decent place to work depending on your department. The train staff love their work and if you're well suited for the long hours, the pay for the onboard personnel is pretty exceptional. Particularly when tips add up.

The management for the most part is good. The VP of Guest Services, however is a difficult woman to work for. You are underpaid, and very under appreciated. She'll pile work on you with disregard. If I was working for a different company I would be making at least five or six dollars more an hour.

For the average employee a 10 or 12 hour work day is pretty standard.
Points positifs
you get a lot of free meals
Points négatifs
Long hours, disorganised, poor training, can be a stressful environment at times
