Clique environment and wages are very low
HR Business Partner (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC11 octobre 2019
Salaries are not competitive or comparable to the cost of living in lower mainland Vancouver. High levels of seasonal positions when there is an ability to have regular/permanent staff.

Abuse and lack of respect
Head office (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC9 octobre 2019
The execs are puppets who can't think for themselves.
Managers are glorified babysitters.
The job you apply and interview for will be nothing like the job you end up doing.

Like a slaves
Luggage Host (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC17 septembre 2019
I think it could be good but when your aren downloading 800 bags from a trailer without any training and safety rules in extreme weather conditions (summer hot and raining fall) you starts to thing “it doesn’t good that it sounds”. They don’t let you a time for rest your muscles, I get an hernia and the managers never ask for my medical situation, the payment it’s so bad for your physical effort. Schedule is the worst

Fun workplace and opportunity to meet people from different walks of life
Destination Host (Employé actuel) –  Vancouver, BC6 septembre 2019
For departure, I start work at 5:30 am. I either stay at the station to do check in or any other assignment, or I get sent to one of the partner hotels to do check ins and storytelling onboard a motor coach with a maximum of 50 guests. I learned how to handle high touch guests and solve problems on my own and with the help of the team. Management is very hands on with employees and make sure everyone is comfortable and well trained in their position. All your co workers are very friendly and is always willing to help you whenever you're in need. Most enjoyable part of my job as a Destination Host is having to meet and talk to several guests from all over the world and learning their culture!

Honest review
Head office worker (Employé actuel) –  Vancouver, BC14 août 2019
Leaders don't make sound decisions. Too many things revolve around office politics, many great people have left due to this.(Highest turnover I have experienced). Lack of clarity on business focus; driven by used car salesmen tactics. Many managers and directors need more training on how to lead a team effectively especially in IT. Lots of talk about people being a top priority but little understand what the pain points are of their people. Work here while you find something better or till you can't take all the self aggrandizing town halls which seem to focus on executives pumping up their bloated egos for all to see..

Plenty of great people have left and let's not forget the history of unionized workers striking.
Points positifs
Nice building
Points négatifs
Ego driven leadership

Very average work experience
IT (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC13 août 2019
Nothing special involved in working here. Underpaid, overworked and extreme pressure are common themes.

I found the management to be rigid and overly paranoid, seemed they were very concerned with poor reviews from travel blogs over their own staff. Lots of turnover.

I suspect most of the reviews here are fake and written by HR. It is clear to see the similarities in the 5 stars. "Best people", "amazing journey", "Lot's of room for advancement". Those are not feelings shared internally.

Corporate company is shady
ONBOARD HOST (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC26 février 2019
If you enjoy waking up at 3;30 am to start work and have no for see able end time in sight then this is a great gig. The work is min wage and grats. You can make great money and skip town for 6 months and only work 6 months of the year. Great if thats what you would like to do.
Points positifs
only working 6 months
Points négatifs
No transparancy with grats that come fom the company, 2 accountants for 500 staff miss alot of money. Never get paid for missing money or any explanation.

Waste of time
Front Line Worker (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC5 décembre 2018
Time spent working for this company is wasted time. Little to no advancement for one. Cuthroat when there is an opening. People pretend to be your friends but its really just a catty and selfish environment. Expect to go into the negative while working here. They pay a few pennies over minimum wage and they won't even tell you the pay when you go to the interview, they just beat around the bush until they have you cornered. Waste of time. McDonalds will treat you better.

Simple, fun, nice people
Station Host (Employé actuel) –  Vancouver, BC14 mars 2018
Everyone is great, they treat you fairly and make sure you're okay. Typical morning you check people in and talk and smile and engage with the guests. Workplace is very multicultural. The best way to get through this job is if you're already happy yourself! Waking up very early and cheery is one of the aspects you should have.
Points positifs
they give you great service with lunches, compensate
Points négatifs
short hours that are split shift, hard to find someone cover your shift

Onboard Host (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC20 novembre 2017
The company itself is full of passionate invdiviuals, but is very cliquey and judgemental especially at the management level.
Nepotism runs rapid within the onboard sectre.

Seasonal, out of town, long hours
FIRST COOK (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, BC2 novembre 2017
You spend 4 or 8 days out of town. The company pays your hotels but otherwise you spend 10-18 hours on the train per day.

The views of the Rockies are incredible, however the disturbance of your life sometimes isn’t worth it
Points positifs
You see the Rockies
Points négatifs
Disturbs your life
