My overall experience from working at Rene Transport for 5+ years was great. The office staff were always extremely friendly and willing to go out of their way to help me out. There were many different work opportunities that arose as the company began to diversify allowing me to learn many new skills.
Overall great company to work for!
Rene Transport was a great company to work for. The office staff were always pleasurable to deal with and never had unreasonable expectations from me. The company is always expanding so I always had opportunity to try new work.
Overall, it was a pleasure to be an employee at Rene Transport.
Great place to work. Small family atmosphere, trucking is tough these days. These small companies still around means they are doing it right! Great runs new building all the amenities drivers need. Good freight gets you home when you need. Shop on site company mechanics right there when you need them. New and old all trucks break down. Truck wash on site also. Nice to keep rig clean!
Canadian Tire is one of there biggest clients, so there is hand bombing involved.I find that dispatch and office staff are very easy to get along with and try to work with you. The working atmosphere I find very family orientated. lets face it trucks do break down they try to fix the problem as best as they can as fast as they can. I been here for almost 2 years and seen people go, but seen a lot of long term people stay. All I can say is I like it here.
I very much enjoyed working at Rene Transport. The dispatch and management were always very accommodating and willing to work with me because they knew I worked hard.
My only complaint would be their client that they worked for at the time, Canadian Tire, we were required to hand bomb most loads. I hear they do much more than just Canadian Tire these days. If they did at the time, I would have stuck around.
Lots of micro management as a tech you couldn’t make a decision nor a call it had to go through management then the tell you what the problem is. So you spend time chasing ghost, the took away breaks after an employee brought the fact that everything after 8 hrs is overtime once the look into it an realize it’s true the took coffee breaks away an then decided that some employee had to pay back an some employee the owed money it was very shady.
A lot of their work is Cdn tire containers from CP terminal. You are expected to help hand bomb off the freight at stores. No pay for time spent trying to get containers out of CP. Paid by mileage and they always seem to pay less than actual mileage driven. Equipment is all very old and miled out. Dispatch OK.
Like most Trucking companies, disorganized dispatch, lot of trips given to daycabs that are not possible within Legal hours of service, no consistency with dispatch. tons of time wasted sitting for backhauls especially on calgary runs. lots of hand bombing Canadian tire freight in extremely hot or cold Sea Cans, with dock staff that dont care how long they take. A few good drivers, and office staff that were good. Not all bad just the typical BS that has and is ruining the Trucking Industry. low pay for amount of work and hours put in as well as jumping trucks as they are older and break down...
Ill Start with the best part of the job was when i was sent to Canadian Pacific railways yard to pickup containers. Hardest part was putting up with all the mistakes that were made during the day by employees of Genco Distributing .who sub- contracted Rene Transport to move the containers.
