The job was only temporary and everything was really fast paced while I was there and I enjoyed the people there. The job was a nice learning experience and I now know more about retail then I did before and how to reel in customers better. You really have to be able to multitask and have a level head when in this type of job, after all one moment you could be just folding some pants and only have 2 costumers just looking around and the next moment BAM! You got 7 costumers asking you questions, wanting a change room, or even just complaining on how the store doesn't have the right style for them. Meanwhile there's more costumers coming in the store. BUT! it is rewarding in its own sense and when that rush ends and you finish with that last person it feels so nice,
Nice people, Great discount on clothes
a little stressful at times, hours can be long depending on the shif and the day
Working for Reitmans itself was a very good experience. The company is well structured. Has policies and procedures that make sense. However, SQ1 mall hours are insane and the DSM for that location (Specific for Thyme) is a huge problem. The entire team left and they still don't take actions towards her. Hours for sales associates are very limited. No washroom in the store. I would go back to reitmans. either Thyme or other brands. But wouldn't to thyme sq1.
Employee card is awesome!
Square one hours are insane

Many good people left due to the treatment (disrespectful) by a former District Sales Manager. Extremely unfair remuneration practices. Little advancement; inequitable pay scale.
Horrible experience working with this company. No matter how much effort you put the mangers will not appreciate.Waste of time to work here as there is no room for advancement.Managers pic their favourite and treat others like nothing.
No job security
If you are looking for a job , where you work 6 hours week , this job is for you . The manager and supervisors gossips about other employees, that is very unprofessional to me . Especially knowing the manager of Reitmans does that . The manager does have her favourites at work , so she only gives shifts to her favourites. Overall the management there is very unprofessional. I had the worst experience working at Reitmans. I highly do not recommend this job.
The job was very fun as you speak with customers everyday and greet them. It is a typical retail sales/ customer service environment and there is a great level of satisfaction to be reached from helping clients to feel good about the clothing selections they choose. The hardest part of the job was not being able to offer style customer was looking for, as it wasn't a style the store carried.
discount on clothes
part time, low hours, minimum wage, low commission
A typical day at Reitmans would consist of constantly helping customers when they need help while assuring them that the opinion we have given them is not wrong (we're not just trying to make a sale, we're trying to be honest in what we do). I learnt a lot while working at Reitmans especially how to be more open-minded to the changing environment. Management always tries to help you when needed but sometimes the expectations are unreal. Sometimes the hardest part of my job is trying to get customers into the fitting rooms, some get disappointed that their size is not available in the store so they give up and do not try a different size on that they mind potentially fit into.
Hard working team
Not enough hours
Loved working here, great team environment. perfect part-time job during school year. Only con to this job was that they only allow a certain amount of hours to be given per week, so if your looking for more than 15+ hours a week than probably not the best part-time job for you.
I liked the company and the values it stood for, however the approach to customer care and customer service I think should not be as enforced as it is because it can seem pushy. The customers we had typically knew what they were looking for and had their minds set, we as employees approaching her the way we were only pushed her away.
Manager and assistant manager were very helpful and supportive in what was my first experience working in a retail environment. I learned the technicalities of working retail (sales transactions, returns, exchanges, stocking, receiving) and extended my existing customer services skills into the retail environment.
I only worked their part-time. I would get off from Home Hardware and then go work their. I also worked the weekends so I was very busy. I enjoyed working with the girls and the customers very much. It was a good place to work.
I had to give it up to much work.
It is a very fast-paced company to work for. You have to be able to think quickly on your feet and stay current with fashion trends. Every day you get to look fabulous in their clothing, because you are the live model for the clientele. In my time with the company, I have worked with some fantastic and dynamic women who work hard every day to ensure the clients feel uplifted and beautiful when making their fashion choices, as well as doing their utmost to maintain sales targets. All in all, if you enjoy fashion, warm-hearted people and a fast-paced work environment, you'll find it with this company!
Great team to work with, flexible hours
Hours are cut based on missed sales targets
My typical day at Reitmans involves processing sales transactions and greeting/informing customers on our new collections. That being said I also help customers choose outfits and provide the best customer service I can. I've personally learnt how to process transactions efficiently and how to provide great customer service.
Terrible place to work, they treat their employees according to favoritism. Very low wages for a heavy work load which is monitored with unreasonable time lines. Due to the stress imparted by management I suffered several physical injuries, left work everyday with severe headaches. Very little support from highly critical management who gossip openly in front of other employees about workers private lives and personal problems. Wages never increase but work load does. District managers made me walk in my bare feet around dangerous props so as to not scuff displays, ladders are always used without supervision and health and safety standards are never upheld. Do not work here
low wages, emotional bullies, slave drivers
- the hardest part of this job is dealing with customers who dont like to stay within the 30 day return policy, it happens a lot. - a lot of people think we are Rikis - Out of all the managers I have had in my other workplaces, Reitmans has had some of the best - All the coworkers at Reitmans are respectful and all have a great team spirit
The employee discount you receive is amazing, but that is really the only highlight of the job. You are constantly overworked by your managers, who rarely do their job and the majority of customers who come into the store are rude and treat you like a slave. You can have flexible hours, they are really good with that as well, however, be prepared to be forced to work certain days and holidays like Black Friday and Boxing Day. Plus if you actually do your job, you will get the crappiest hours as well. You will get the longest shifts just because you perform better than the other employees. Not to mention there is an extreme amount of favouritism that goes on. People who have worked in the same job for 8 or more years and do less work than someone who has been there for less than a year and who actually does their job, and then some, often get favoured.
50% off employee discount
Long hours, poor work environment
A lot of work for little pay and recognition for the work you do put in. No matter how many hours I worked or how hard I tried to meet quotas, merchandise etc, it was never good enough. A company that started small, and treated everyone with respect has grown into an oversized corporate monster with little or no respect for employees. Their refund policy forced employees to practically interrogate the customer regarding the reason for returning the merchandise. I will not suggest employment at this company to anyone.
Christmas Eve off.
Long hours, little pay
