As a university student, I worked at Reitmans throughout 4 of my 5 years studying. It was usually a fun environment to work in. Most of the managers I encountered throughout my years working there treated the staff well and I even became really close with a couple of managers. They were generally very accomodating with the demands university placed on me. My co-workers were always nice and respectful people with whom I got along really well.

Love their merchandise and they treat all their staff amazingly well A lot of stores closed due to the pandemic unfortunate and most of their sales are online.

It's pretty okay environment to work with, people are very nice (depending on who is your manager and location), no benefits unless you're working full time. It could be stressful sometimes because some managers will want you to do the most when wages aren't as good/low

Reitmans was very good to their employees. They had multiple competitions, on who can sell the most, which really encouraged us to sell more. Also, the management was kind and encouraging

Pros -Good staff training -Paid on time -Employee discounts Cons -Management -Scheduling - Did not provide resources to problems I had good experiences with the company, and made long lasting friendships. It was difficult moving up in the company due to management training.

Environment of growth

There was a lot of pressure working here for customer service. It was a little bit extreme sometimes, I think that might have just been the manager though. Customer service is important to retail, but you also need to know how to step back and allow a customer to take their time. This was not the case here and customers were often scared off by how closely we were attending to them. Other than that, great place to work, lots of room for advancement. They value their employees, which is rare.

working at Reitman is ok some days its really busy and other days its really dead. I enjoying helping the customers and helping them feel great about there look. I think the company should pay the employee more for all the hard work do and more help the employee with discounts.

Fun place to work

Very structured enviroment with nice product to work with. Unfortunately the compensation does not match the expected hours and phisycal work you are required to put in. During my employment some of the upper managers' style was harsh and demeaning and this was tolerated by HR.

Company promotes growth, but hours are long and inconsistent

One of the best companies I've worked for. I have moved up multiple times in the company, and they give their staff lots of opportunities for growth. They also have bonus programs in place for part-time employees, as well as compensation programs for part-time employees to encourage loyalty and longevity. However, as with any retail position, the hours are long and inconsistent.

- althought it was repitive the managment was amazing and very understadning as well as flexible. the other co workers were very nice as well. the only reason i did not go back was because it was a little boring at times as there was little interaction with customers as they were able to help themselves

My staff made my job enjoyable. I had a really great team at my location, everyone was comfortable working together and enjoyed working together. As a team we worked very hard at driving sales and providing exemplary customer service. My team and I established an amazing rapport with our customers. Which always had them coming back. It was sad to see our location close down.

The company had a great discount for employees, there were lots of opportunities for management to receive training etc. Staff were fantastic. Company extremely corporate- upper management looks at you as though you are just a number.

I had no intentions to make this a career. For the most part it was good as I travelled twice a week to a different store to help cover mgmt. Same role just different store and opening and closing responsibility.

learned self motivation, great team of people to work with at a sales level. enjoyed working with customers the most. very diverse team, kind and become like family. hardest part of the job would be having a customer be dissatisfied with our service. Management team are understanding and work to help you achieve reasonable goals within the company and also outside.
