Overall, I think the job was fine even though it was very stressful and I couldn't keep up some days. However, management was very understanding as well as my coworkers and they were the ones that helped me throughout my time working there.
Dishwashing at Red Lobster typically was the same thing everyday. For example, I would get to work, change, and instantly get to work being very busy on arrival. It was a very fast paced workplace. It had a lot of seating as well. It was located in a pretty busy end of Ottawa as well. Management there was pretty laid back but very keen on making sure everybody in the kitchen and the front of house did their jobs accordingly. Overall these managers worked very hard and well. The hardest part of the job would be having to keep up with the dishes, especially on either holidays, or even hot weekends in the summer when it was extremely busy. The most enjoyable part of this job was to learn new things in all parts and positions of the kitchen.

A fast paced and steady work environment. However the clash between expectations of the cooks and servers dragged down what was a great place to be. If you can get past the disrespect from certain people and the treatment of your work stations it is a very manageable work experience.
Excellent managers, steady hours, food discount
Servers do not respect the Cooks work stations
There are a lot of flaws at Red Lobster, management does not properly organize the kitchen, and as such the kitchen staff often pushes them around. The servers think they run the place and are always screaming at line staff for their food, and there is no tip out for the kitchen staff. There is a huge rift between the servers and kitchen staff, and a high degree of animosity there as a result. The work gets really busy too, as Red Lobster is a very active and popular eat destination. The kitchen is always kept very clean.
lots of availability
animosity amongst workers
A typical day at work usually starts with check-ins with managers where they inform us on product we may be low on or out of completely as well as check our uniforms to ensure we are in good working conditions. While working at red lobster I have learnt time management with our pace of meal program along with learning to deal with different allergies and providing the guests with alternative solutions to make their experience just as enjoyable as the rest of their group. The managers at Red Lobster are very approachable and able to assists if any issues arise that we, as servers, cannot deal with. The co-workers are great, we all work together as a team on busy evening shifts to ensure that guests food is delivered when ready and nice and hot. Hardest part of the job is not being able to move things along faster. ex, get food or alcoholic beverages out quicker. Most enjoyable part of the job is being able to socialize with the guests. There isn't a day that I do not learn something new from someone.
when we work we get 50% our lunch, when we don't work its 25%, this applies at all red lobster locations.
long hours, minimal time to sit and eat in between shifts
The Red Lobster in Windsor is a great place to work; I have met so many new people, made friends, established relationships with regulars, and have had the opportunity to work on my personal skills needed for this type of work. I have learned skills such as those needed in dealing with an angry guest, how to make/keep a situation positive, respect, organization and an attention to detail. I am always on the go and making sure that my position helps my coworker's jobs run smoothly. It can be quite fun.
