management is Ok. You will not get full time hours even if you have more seniority than anyone else. they send you home if they don't have enough customers.

Overview
Line Cook (Employé actuel) –  Brampton, ON28 juin 2019
Come in with uniform and go on appropriate station. You must put on gloves, apron, and hair net. There is four managers there, all the managers are pretty friendly and nice. Lately the managers have been writing people up for eating food without asking etc. The hardest part is staying stocked at your station when it gets busy, and staying up to task if understaffed. The most enjoyable part is when the managers sometimes cook up some food for the workers.
Points positifs
free biscuits and drinks
Points négatifs
Long hours, lots of cleaning

Productive workplace with opportunity for hard workers to move up
Certified Trainer and Certified Grill Master (Ancien employé) –  Kitchener, ON28 juin 2019
Red lobster offered myself a unique work opportunity over the past four years, giving me the chance to develop not only abilities to multitask but my leadership skills. Every day the restaurant faced new challenges and offered kitchen staff the opportunity through stressful times of the night to prove themselves. I learned how to problem solve and prioritize tasks, handle volume and stress and develop into a dependable worker.
Points négatifs
Poor management

Poor conditions and very poor compensation
Line Chef (Ancien employé) –  Kitchener, ON15 juin 2019
My coworkers on the line were great and we always got along very well, but the wait staff created a toxic environment for the kitchen workers. As well, the kitchen staff receives no percentage of the tips given to the wait staff, but they regularly stood across from the line staff and bragged about their tips. Red Lobster is not a cheap place to eat, and many people tip extremely well. There’s nothing worse than being in the middle of a very stressful dinner rush and having to listen to someone brag about getting a big tip because the food you prepared was excellent. The management was also a mess, but that may have changed since I’ve been gone.

At least the people are cool
Line Cook (Employé actuel) –  Calgary, AB6 avril 2019
The work is extremely repetitive and tiresome, you don't get paid much, you don't get tips as kitchen staff. But they understand availability needs, and they work around personal life needs.
Points positifs
50% off meals
Points négatifs
No tips in kitchen

Staff were amazing, pay not worth the amount of work
Line Cook/Utility (Ancien employé) –  Windsor, ON25 mars 2019
Staff were amazing, pay not worth the amount of work. Making the same as you would at McDonalds does not provide enough initiative to work the many cooking stations at RL.

Server job used to be great
Server (Employé actuel) –  Brantford, ON9 mars 2019
Used to be a much better place to work. Now it seems like management doesnt care about the front staff. Servers are overstaffed. Sometimes you can work a Sat night shift and only have 2-3 tables. Other times you can start a shift and not get a table for 2 hours. Anytime issues are being brought up to management they are defensive and give you excuses.
Points positifs
Great people, fun job
Points négatifs
Overstaffing

Loved this job!
Hostess (Ancien employé) –  Burlington, ON28 février 2019
I loved working this job, the hours were great and the management was very strong. It was never an issue to get time off and the management was very respectful of availability and made appropriate schedules. I was young compared to the rest of the workers as I started working there at only 16 but everyone was super nice and it was always a fun work environment. The hardest part of the job was when it would get very busy and customers would get frustrated with you because there would be a few hosts standing around and no one being seated but the management would always help if any situations got out of hand. The best part of the job was definitely the work environment, it was just such a fun place to work and it was very sad to leave.
Points positifs
employee discount was 50%, respectful of availability, good training, fair work assignments, good pay
Points négatifs
hard to work full time hours (the shifts were short), usually not granted the optional breaks so a long time standing on your feet

Red Lobster is falling apart
Server/Cook/Cashier (Ancien employé) –  Windsor, Ontario26 février 2019
The Windsor Red Lobster ran with precision for 30 years and then there was a change in management. The management is very weak and contributing to the decline of a wonderful restaurant. The company refused to pay their cooks a fair wage so all the best cooks went to other restaurants. The result is customers waiting ridiculous times to get their food. When it arrives some things will be missing, and others will not be not cooked properly. Also many items will arrive cold. This is not the fault of the server but of weak cooks and incompetent management who cannot even run a shift without problems. They do not order items that are needed such as bread baskets and crab crackers - so you might get something dirty just used by another table. Also the handheld credit card machines often do not work. All the SNAFUs that customers face are NOT the fault of the server. But the management refuses to take responsibility or address any of the underlying issues. Instead of taking care of problems, servers are put under a microscope, demoralized in reviews, and blamed for the poor performance of line cooks and managers. All these nightmares began with the promotion of the new General Manager. She SUCKS!!! But she is a nice lady.
Points positifs
most staff are good hard working people
Points négatifs
Management is too weak and needs to be changed

A typical evening at Red Lobster
Dishwasher/Prep Cook (Ancien employé) –  Toronto, ON24 janvier 2019
A typical evening at Red Lobster was a little hectic because a lot of people would call in sick which leaves us with less staff which makes the job a bit harder to get done. I learned that when your at work you should always work to your full capacity, so you can get the job done quick & safe. The hardest part of working at Red Lobster is doing all the dishes by hands when dishwasher breaks down which happened a lot. The most enjoyable part when everyone is working as a team and has everything under control.

had issues with management
PREP COOK/LINE COOK (Employé actuel) –  Barrie, ON3 janvier 2019
this place isnt awful to work at, you just have to be liked by the management if you want to get somewhere in the job. The other staff often are a bit strange to work with.
