Poor management and negative environment
Customer Service Representative (Employé actuel) – Kitchener, ON – 27 août 2019
Avoid at all costs if you can. This is retail, so obviously you are going to get terrible customers but internally, it is terrible with management as well. The system is structured in a way that benefits seniority members, cliche culture, and encourages family nepotism. You will also have a ton of "supervisors" who in their late teens / early 20s who started this job while they were in high school and actually have no interest in managing their employees in a fair, professional and appropriate way.
When you elect to have young adults and put them into leadership roles, there ought to be an emphasis on maturity rather than the number of years they've been employed with the organization. That's not the case here...it's an absolute mess and the environment is super unwelcoming.
You won't get any performance appraisals. If you want to cross-train in other areas (and you're not a buddy-buddy with higher management), then you have to fight tooth and nail. Even if you do get trained somewhere, it'll be inconsistent and poorly handled (because of the young supervisors).
The hours that you ask for will not be taken into consideration. If you ask for 20, they'll give you 30. If you ask for 30, they'll give you 10. People have walked out of the job because of this. I've been scheduled on days that I'm not supposed to work on.
Just avoid this place...please. I've never worked at such a terrible place.
