Be prepared to multitask and work long hours with diverse tasks that can be mentally draining. A lot can be learned from working at a bank, that can greatly benefit the individual.

Great place to work!

The staff and clientele are lovely! I worked at multiple branches, nothing but good to say about RBC. Everyone was so welcoming and working with these people everyday made me really enjoy my job

Its okay

Overall RBC is a good company with good perks but sometimes its very overwhelming, less pay, and feels like a labor job. High with seniority and if you want a day off its impossible to arrange if you arent seniority

Fun people but pay could be improved

Good people, bad pay and lots of clients you deal with are gonna be so over the top rude. Upper management is so out of touch and your starting pay is under 20$ even though it should be bare minimum 25$ for the mental abuse you take from clients.

Respectful Workplace

RBC is like no other job I have other worked at. I am also blessed with awesome co workers. We really work as a team at RBC, if one of us is struggling we offer help to each other, we boost each other up, we applaud each other when we are doing a good job. Most clients I serve are pretty polite and talk very respectfully. I enjoy typing on the computer as well as I enjoy organizing the paperwork, helping clients with their card issues or online issues. I am making the most money hourly that ive ever made at any job.

Points positifs

Decent Pay

Horrible negative atmosphere

Like someone said it will suck the soul out of you. Maybe some branches are better but the negative atmosphere in this one was absolutely terrible. I’m a positive person and going there ruined my day. Majority of the time I worked there for just under two years and we had three managers. There’s no guidance they claim they motivate you with goals, etc., but this is not true. You’re practically just a number to them. No teamwork people are miserable there which makes an absolute horrible place to be.

Always on

Time between answering calls is 2 seconds you can use personal time but you end up having to use it for breaks so its not actually personal time Management is encouraging but has no controll over time between calls, culture is good useless team meetings and 1 on 1s that dont do anyrhing other then waste time everything is to follow a procedure if its not on there no one knows the answer

Points positifs

good pay

Points négatifs

no time to self

toxic manager

Most walk-in RBC Clients are nice and friendly and they aren't as bad as RBC colleagues say and think of. RBC colleague and ESPECIALLY assistant branch manager ALWAYS publicly speak ill of clients behind their back, even though clients haven't really even done anything that offended them or even have not appeared to be aggressive or demanding. They show no respect to their clients as well as the co-worker. Management is way toxic especially the assistant branch manager, he demands respect, but doesn't respect any others. He speaks ill of a new hire with other colleagues, shows no RESPECT and micromanages a new hire if he/she is unable to perform the work they haven't even been taught. The ABM even blames you in front of the walk-in client because you don't know how to do the transaction you haven't REALLY learned before. They ASSUME they have already taught you everything with only less than 2 weeks of shadowing given after onboarding you while there can really be lots of complicated transactions to be learned. Work culture ? do they have any? the hardest part of the job is you don't know how to do the work they have never taught you and they thought you have taught you! There is never any enjoyable part of this job. Branch Manager is good! He encourages and inspires you how to do the work better. OVerall, it all depends on which branch you get assigned to work at.

Points positifs

No monthly fee banking account

Points négatifs

Very poor. Stay away. This company cares about making money and literally nothing else.

What is the best part of working at the company? The pay is ok for a job that doesn't require any skillWhat is the most stressful part about working at the company?Way too much work expected for the pay. The company will recognize you and compensate you for high performance but the moment you have any problems or your stats drop for any reason (personal or just a bad batch of calls) you are roadkill. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Stressful, too busy, far too much demanded of staff for the pay. If you have any personal issues or are sick, even if you have a doctor's note, they will write you off and replace you without hesitation. You're better off making a deal with the dark lord. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Stressful, you talk to people nonstop all day with only 4 seconds between calls.

It used to be great

I love RBC as a company, as a whole.I have enjoyed more than a decade dealing with not only clients but leaders who are extremely professional and respectable.Leadership change and so everything change. Even clients notice the change in environment.I do not understand how newly hires can be so bossy and disrespectful.I do not understand why the management is allowing that.I do not understand why there is no respect in seniority.Sometimes I regretted spending many years here only to witness a current mess.I feel like RBC's beautiful culture is gone not because of RBC but because of the character of this people. Most of them does not care as long as they get what they want which is promotion. Most are really title hungry. Some are really power trippers.Crab mentality.Values is gone.Compassion is gone.I hope it does not stay like this. I hope they put the right people in management that can actually do the job and not take everything personally. Sad really.

Solid, stable job that may suck your soul out of you.

What is the best part of working at the company?Salary and benefits. Ability to apply for jobs internally across the country. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Weak management accountability. Branch leadership have free reign and many are not trained or equipped to effectively manage a team. Some excellent leaders are employed there. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Very inclusive culture with emphasis on LGBTQ community and indigenous causes.

Fun

It can be demanding, but the people I work worth with are very nice. However, I do feel a replaceable vibe, from the one manager, and can see that they would only care about performance when it comes down to it

A quick fix, wishing there was more room for advancement

Like any job there will be Pros and Cons, this one was no exception. The I applied for the role of ‘Client Advisor’ (which is I guess a fancier way of saying bank teller), it was a good opportunity to learn new job skills and have new work experience for someone who has been in one field looking to branch out. The culture is pretty good, very diverse, but it’s also very variable depending on your work location. Unfortunately, this was a short lived career experience for me as the pay was not enough to sustain myself on, not was the treatment of client service workers by verbally aggressive and client the ability for career growth was almost impossible. I hope that this gets better at RBC

Points positifs

good work life balance

Points négatifs

aggressive clients and no room for career advancement

Good workplace

Good workplace, good work life balance. Culture is great. The benefits are good if you’re looking for medical/dental insurance coverage. So many departments to work your way up to.

I love it here

General transactions throughout the day along with house-keeping/administrative tasks. There is always a learning opportunity as we have so many different kinds of clients. Our team is always laughing with each other. For me, the hardest part is seeing the financial hardships that so many people go through. You never know what someone is going through. I truly love my job.

No room for growth

There is not a lot of room for growth. It really depends on which branch they place you in. They also change your hours consistently so some weeks you work the late night close and others you don’t. You will have to work Saturdays and they will give you one other day of the week off, but you don’t get a choice in what day that is.

annual bonus barely makes up for low pay

In a year like 2023-2024 I received a raise of only 1% - meanwhile the company spews out tons of internal emails saying how good they are doing. The success of the company doesn't make it very far down. My bonus was quite high, but this is a reflection on my own excellent sales numbers and I don't feel taken care of when my raise doesn't even make inflation

Points négatifs

illegal overtime

Stressful and Lack of Advancement

When I started there, there had been adequate staff and mediocre support for training. Training was adequate in certain areas, but other areas were severely lacking. Increasing demand, especially in a lack of support to support the increased demand, was very stressful. There was also a lack of support, lack of awareness (barely any "thank you's"), and constantly a lack of staff. If you tell management about your future career plans, they say "That's great" or "Good for you", but do not support you in going towards that goal. There are workshops and social groups within RBC, however, due to the lack of support, you probably cannot attend these groups. Also, clients are allowed to make threats or harass you, however, management would not support the staff as they support the clients instead. There were times where I dreaded having to go into the branch as someone might actually take their threat seriously. There are employee appreciation days, however, they purchase the least expensive treats for the staff. They also do not give staff access to certain things (access to the vault, access to the ATM room), even with a good amount of time with the company. Management will go back on their word (allowing certain accesses/programs for you, but delay because it is not needed "at this time" but panic during emergencies) as well as HR (promising jobs but cancelling the position). If you apply for a position here, request legal advice before signing the employment contract. As RBC may rescend the offer and tell you that you have no future at the company.

Points négatifs

Staff Shortages, Increasing demand, Lack of Advancement

Nice place to work.

I really enjoy to work here. The salary is average but it is a nice place to start your career. You always learn something new and overall the staff is nice and eager to help you.
