Competent colleagues and excellent benefits but be wary of corporate culture
Day-to-day work is evenly paced, health benefits are stellar, and staff get many holidays off as is typical in financial institutions. However, permanent full-time at Rapport does not quite pay the bills in Thunder Bay if you stay in a member service representative role (equivalent to bank teller) and do not fight for wage increases. Be wary, as the "locally owned and operated credit union" image is a facade; Rapport is a corporation with head offices in Toronto, Ontario. The branches in Thunder Bay and outlying regions are considered satellites, so lay-offs and demotions can come suddenly. At time of writing, several employees have taken on additional responsibilities due to recent retirements and resignations, with no accompanying increase in pay.
