The hotel is managed by well-educated and efficient staff

The hotel is managed by well-educated and efficient staff. I had a wonderful job experience there than in other places I worked. The management team plays a super organized role under the supervision of the general manager. She does not let any special moment go without celebrating: it makes the workplace fun even in the busy time, the staff enjoys working there. She always brings up something new for the staff to make a difference at work. I worked in the housekeeping department, and the hotel was busy because they always have many guests due to the excellent service they provide. The housekeeping manager was an artful strategist of her profession. She creates a peaceful and friendly environment for the staff.

Do not bother working here

They will overwork you with the excuse that it is "part of the union agreement". Front desk staff gets to sit around and chat all day while the housekeepers are made to clean the most disgusting filth. The hours are long and the labour is difficult. Management will not do much to help you and will find excuses to have you do more work as part of the "union contract". To anyone looking to work here: DON'T. They will work you like a dog and treat you as such.

Management very nice to work for

I enjoyed working at the quality inn even if it was only for a short time .I had to move away thats the only reason I left..beautiful hotel great management..

This is an ideal place to work at

Between the staff and management, this was my favourite job, we had fun there while working and building a solid team. Management is great and strive to be the best, the amount of awards they have won in the hospitality industry is crazy. And the new ways and ideas of doing daily tasks it’s an ongoing learning path, your always learning. If you want to build a career in hotel management and have a drive for it and show it the managers here will take you under their wing. Show you the ropes teach you everything you need to know. After of course watching your work ethic and abilities for a bit.

I wouldn’t recommend working here

This is a very dysfunctional place to work . They have no clue on what their doing. Everyday is something new. Very disorganized. Would not recommend anyone to work there.

Enjoyed the job though management needs work.

Enjoyed the job though management needs work. The job was a gateway to opportunities with hotel/banquet guests. Great for trying hotel perks, and for creating/fabricating new relationships/friendships/connections with all genres of people...

Lots of physical work is required

Cleanliness and speed are the two most important things. Lots of physical work. Time management is important. You have to be really patient while dealing with guests.

- Always keeping busy with different things to do. - Coworkers are very easy to get along with. - Management is very dedicated to keeping everything maintained. - They throw the best staff parties/baby showers for employees.

Easy work short days

I enjoy working here at Quality Inn West Edmonton. It is relaxed 6-7hr day shifts. Management is awesome and understanding. Interview was quick got hired on the spot.

Not a good place to work

l worked there for 13 years. We had a great supervisor then, and l worked as a room attendant. Three years ago the company sold out to new management. They are not good people to work for, the union rules are not followed and they do not care about their employees. I ended up quitting.

I never liked working in a hotel but since I needed money, I was desperate to work here but the experience I had wasn't pleasant at all. I've only been here for a month. Shift starts at 8 in the morning. 14 rooms to clean sometimes 18 the most and you need to finish these rooms from say 8 30 or 9 to 4pm. $14/hour, but the rooms you clean are super nasty cuz some people lives in the hotel especially first floor. Management - the manager was fine for a few weeks, then she started giving me attitude and the staff doesnt like her because shes very rude to them Staff - well they all know each other so you cant really rely on them cuz they will screw you over especially that black lady who works in the first floor and those two nosy filipinas always asking me how many rooms i have and how many check out I have. Food - you have to bring your own food cuz theres no free food but you can buy something in the front desk. Work - very tiring, the people who does the laundry are slower than a turtle! You always have to go downstairs every 30mins cuz you always have to get extra sheets, towels, etc I do not recommend applying here cuz they only pay $14, not a good pay for a physical job.

I really didn't like working there because of the bad hours and got let go bacause I forgot to wear my suit stupid but true. Other than that it was gravy

Wrongful Termination - Barrie

I could go on about a lot of things, but the problem is that on my shift (3-11) we have no other staff. Whether its a full house on the weekend, or ten people on a slow day, I'm the only one there. There is no maintenance or security. I (the front desk associate) am responsible to make sure things run smoothly, and that I respond to as many calls as possible. I have never called off for a shift, and the only time I was late was when the roads were blocked from one of the power lines falling down. They will say they had another associate, but they were only there for contract work, they were not hired by the company and do not work under the Quality Inn name. It doesn't make sense to call on someone who paints and assume they'll be okay as a security guard. I have worked there for months without incident. I have performed multiple evictions from noise complaints and even violence. One night I made the call to have an unregistered guest removed from the property. He was not registered, had no I.D to verify who he was and decided to make it known that he was an ex criminal. With no security, no id and a scenario that screamed 'shady' I made the call to non-emergency to have the two escorted from the property, as I didn't feel comfortable going all the way upstairs to knock on their door. Apparently seeing the police at his door, the guy jumped from the second story window and ran on foot. My manager insisted I provoked the situation and that I was discriminating against someone just because they had a criminal background. He has insurance. This isn't even the worst -

Terrible management

This job is soul crushing. Management is just a bunch of people who like to talk poorly about the people working under them. The guest services manager will literally spend a whole shift talking poorly about anyone and everyone (this is the same man who originally wanted to be a social worker but didn’t meet the requirements to become one). He treats new employees like his big dating show, even making comments about how he won’t hire someone he’s matched with on tinder because “that’s old news”. The turn over rate is so high for this job because management continuously hires new people then let’s them go within the probationary period so they won’t have to offer vacation time. I would avoid working here if possible unless you like a sleazy direct manager and a high school atmosphere.

Horrible.

Management was terrible. Co-workers were quitting within hours on somedays. Disorganized. Chaotic. Blame game going on there. They literally would hire any Body. Couldnt wait to leave there. The former GM was absolutely rude and ignorant.

Overall not a great hotel

have been working there for over two years and over time it has just gotten to be such a bad place. the walls are falling apart, the beds, and more. they do not pay us fairly. they do not treat us fairly what so ever as they give us different amounts of rooms.

it was ok

This like most any job there is drama But again good people to work with for the most part of it Management was good if you needed time off with family, and hoildays ect.. christmas or end of summer they do a dinner ect.

Not a good place

Don’t work there unless you want to be treated badly. Smiling or talking amongst staff is forbidden. Gossip and rumours are rampant. Confidentiality is nonexistent.
