Worked here for about a year before we had to move due to my spouses job, was a very easy going environment. Easy interview and was hired on the spot.You have to deal with alot of entitled guests coming in. and the GM was terrible. He never did his job properly, was always late and leaving during the day for personal issues.

Had enjoyable moments

All in all it had enjoyable moments, the pay was terrible but that seems to be the way in hospitality! Different management and owners now so not sure what the atmosphere is like anymore.

Unhappy

There isn't enough training, the work environment is discriminatory. There is not any room to move up. management could be more supportive and appreciative of the hard work that is done

Coworkers are great but the owner is not.

For the most part, I enjoyed my time working at the hotel. Most of my co-workers were fun to work alongside but there were a couple who were frustrating.I was told the owner was a nice guy but he doesn't like when employees make honest mistakes.

Like working

The work day is not always fast paced but it is interesting when working nights. You get to meet lots of different and interesting kinds of people. Job can be awarding if you make it so.

happy and grateful

I'm so Happy and Grateful to be part of the company listed in my resume because I gain experience and meet new friends and people. I must say that this really a once in lifetime adventure

Fun workplace with friendly coworkers.

- Always keeping busy with different things to do. - Coworkers are very easy to get along with. - Management is very dedicated to keeping everything maintained. - They throw the best staff parties/baby showers for employees.

Front desk manager job needs skills

You are managing 100 things at a time, and there can be some unusual events. Quick thinking and managerial skills required. Not very rewarding but definitely a stepping stone for becoming a hotel manager

Productive and fun place to work

excellent work environment Fun place to work . We work as a team. Management is really understanding. Most enjoyable part of the job is people. It's like a big family.

Fun staff

Having never worked in a hotel before, it was a learning experience. Poor guests would make it a bad experience but overall it was a great experience. Friendly cleaning staff and the new front desk manager Ted was exactly what the Quality Inn needed.

Not a good place

Don’t work there unless you want to be treated badly. Smiling or talking amongst staff is forbidden. Gossip and rumours are rampant. Confidentiality is nonexistent.

Drama

The job was great. Pay was good but not great. Unionized so they have to follow the guidelines. Great benefits after 90 days. The owner is super, however the person left in charge plays games and the people liked are favoured. Not noticeable at first but it shows up eventually.

A fun work place, very busy

I liked working at Quality Inn Merritt because they scheduled me around my schooling. I learned how a hotel operates. The hardest thing was to deal with conflict with guests

It was okay

Best part of the job was meeting new people who were traveling through the area. Quiet little place work. Sometimes you are at the front desk alone.

Great management and fantastic staff

Management and staff are exceptional. I love working here. The hotel has recently been renovated so it is a clean and updated place to work. If you like a faced paced environment and enjoy people, this is the place for you.

Stable Place for employment

- Good place to work, very good team atmosphere -Front desk, you work solo, so its nice to have control of situations and you learn valuable personable skill -Consistent schedule -Good for allowing time off for family matters

This place was a good place to work at it was fine and treated their staff great

The Quality Inn is a great place to stay if you're just looking for a quick stay with a family or friends just to it visit Halifax a little bit the staff there are very nice there's a pool there and it's pretty clean not really any complaints except for the breakfast it's very very cheap.

front desk

i found it quit quiet at night while i was there. It was every second day we would get a little busy from the rocky mountain rail road train. The pay was not great but i some how managed to get by, but that is why I am not working there any more there was no benefits and it was low pay at that time.

Amazing work culture

daily interactions with guests. great friendly and amazing management treating each other as a family rather than a work team members great connection starting from management to the Housekeeping department

Decent pay but horrible work environment

Good pay horrible work environment. The managers go by favoritism and treat you like slaves. Too much drama. Managers will not give you the days off you want and just make the job miserable for you. Overall the General Manager was really nice but the other managers need to go and get new management for this corrupt hotel to be successful. Over 10 new employees left, now you know why.

Quiet

Working the front desk was a great experiencing in terms of working independently with little supervision. As a front desk agent I was both customer facing and performing nightly audits.
