Poor management
Supervisor (Ancien employé) –  Edmonton13 septembre 2019
Management tends to micro manage, spend time on useless make-work projects “reinventing the wheel”. They also do not submit paperwork and reports on a timely basis. Another irksome practice is nepotism- hiring unfairly.
Points positifs
Not many
Points négatifs
Poor management.

Energetic, productive and respectful department
Sr. Project Manager (Employé actuel) –  Ottawa, ON10 août 2019
The PSPC department which I am working currently for is called:
Energy Services Acquisition Program (ESAP). Majority of peoples working for ESAP are young persons with lots of optimism and energy.
This positive energy is fuel by senior and regular directors including also supervisors,
Points positifs
Working from home and flexible hours
Points négatifs
Slow approval process by other PSPC branches

It is a vibrant location with access to food court
BILINGUAL CUSTOMER SERVICE (Ancien employé) –  4900 Yonge street27 juillet 2019
It's a comfortable office environment and secured with access card. Coworkers are team players in day to day operations and we also work independently most of the time.

Steady Paycheque
ADVISORY OFFICER/BUSINESS AND POLICY ANALYST (Employé actuel) –  Ottawa1 juin 2019
standard 9-5 government job. steady work, no incentives to do more than is required. Procedures change all the time, turnover is ridiculously high and it's very difficult to get work done. Be bilingual if you want to get ahead in the federal government

Good for Government
Security and Business Analyst (Contract) (Ancien employé) –  Gatineau, QC15 mai 2019
Not crazy about working in the federal government and the department has gone through a lot of changes with Phoenix, and prior push towards SAP, but as far as working for the federal government goes, it is not a bad place to work.
Points positifs
telecommuting, flexible hous
Points négatifs
some employees do not pull their weight, low pay

Vessel Operator (Employé actuel) –  Vancouver, BC22 mars 2019
Good place to work, can be lots of red tape. Benefits and work schedule are very good, although benefits not as good as Translink, Ferries, etc. Overall 4/5

Global Affairs Canada
Policy Analyst (Employé actuel) –  Gatineau, QC29 septembre 2018
A mixed bag in this department. Has a reputation for attracting Type A individuals, which likely contributes to an influx of individuals who view themselves as Type A personalities.

In actuality, a lot of diversity in terms of personalities, but certain branches in the department do have a less-than-stellar reputation within the federal government family.

Fairly standard government work culture overall.

With some luck you will have a great supervisor with a lot of experience and an interesting background (maybe international).

Enjoyable part of the job includes access to a great network and some of the more interesting case files in government.

Stressful and nepotism runs rampant
Pension Specialist (Employé actuel) –  Shediac, NB19 septembre 2018
Phoenix pay system has made it worse, lucky if you ever get paid right.

Nepotism runs rampant, it's like bring your family to work day and they never go home.

Benefits are good but hardly the best any more and the management is mostly useless and related.

They manipulate the stats to get bonuses.
Points positifs
Benefits and pay
Points négatifs
All the BS and negativity

(SERC), Casual, Administrative Assistant (AS1) (Ancien employé) –  Gatineau, QC19 septembre 2018
As a Casual worker for the Federal Government, I didn't like the fact that I had no benefits, no sick days for myself or my family. The pay rate was although excellent.

Good pay
Points négatifs
No benefits

Pretty good place
WEB DEVELOPER (INTERN) (Employé actuel) –  Toronto, ON15 septembre 2018
Public services and procurement Canada has a very laid back environment. The work isn't that exciting but the quality of co-workers makes up for it. Overall not bad.

Great people to work with
Records Management Clerk (Ancien employé) –  Ottawa, ON8 août 2018
The usual work day at PSPC was often busy and occasionally challenging with a steady work/life balance. Job security and more training would be ideal.
Points positifs
Friendly work colleagues, steady work flow
Points négatifs
Little room for advancement particularly for contract/temp workers

Moving Forward
Compensation Assistant - CR05 (Employé actuel) –  Ottawa, ON30 juillet 2018
PSPC is a wonderful place to work, they offer competitive salaries with vacation and sick days. Currently there is a focus on the Phoenix pay system which had created plenty of job opportunities

Productive and Fun Place to work
Information Management Service Clerk (Ancien employé) –  Vancouver, Canada20 mai 2018
A typical day starts at 8am and ends at 4pm. The team and the work dynamic is wonderful as everyone is nice and enjoys their jobs. Each section as their own tasks but it is not hard to learn new things.

A great place to work with querks
Accountant (Ancien employé) –  Ottawa, ON16 janvier 2018
The overall job experience was OK, unfortunately, there were several issues within management which caused high turn over rates, greatly affected morale and overall performance. I love the people that I did work with, we had close relationships. The mood of the building was very stressful.
