Health Care Workers in Providence Health have confident and warm heart to treat humanity as they really want to. The management is very friendly as like role model of the colleagues.

This is not a facility where I would want to work nor refer a registered nurse to work. The hours are grueling, the shift rotations are unacceptable and the work environment at the time I was employed was toxic. Management was not supportive by any means and the staff were much like management. That is not without say I worked with some excellent RNs but most of the nurses should not be in nursing. Benefits of employment do not outweigh the hospital culture. Turnover seems to be high and retention low.
Points positifs
Some hospital benefits
Points négatifs
shift rotations, lack of management support, poor communicaton between staff and management.

Working here is busy but it is the coworkers that support and make each day go by quickly. There is a high turnover rate in terms of patients so you have to be on your feet at all times. There is also a high turnover rate in higher management and leaders which may make things difficult when the people you rely on do not know how to lead appropriately.

I work in the Emergency department and I love it. I’ve worked in a number of other hospitals but this is my favorite so far. A significant portion of our patients are quite marginalized; with high rates of poverty, mental illness, and addiction issues. This can result in a bit of a crazy place to work at times (ie. people shouting & throwing things), but the work is meaningful and our team is amazing. It’s the most collaborative work environment that I’ve had the pleasure to be a part of. When things get tough - you’ve got lots of people ready to help - it’s a real team effort. As we are waiting for a new hospital to be built (in the next decade), minimal site repairs are being done. This is unfortunate as the department continues to look more shabby. Some care projects have also been put on hold for this same reason. It is currently well staffed. Our doctors are kind, thoughtful, and super smart. Management is supportive. There is a ton of funded educational opportunities. If you want a calm, lavender-scented place to work, it’s probably not for you. If you like an adventure, have a good sense of humor, and have a compassionate heart then this place could be a great new work-home for you. Welcome to the team.

St Paul's is a very fast paced, quick patient turnover environment that can easily go from calm to stressful in a matter of minutes. When you have a full nursing team working with you, the work load is very manageable and steady; however, when working short staffed, stress levels quickly escalate leading to fatigue and burnout.

Depends on where you work and how the surrounding team is. But there is room for advancement and potentially moving up for more job positions. Managers are caring and listen to concerns.
