Working a lot of hours weekly, covering large distances, not that much admin job to do, direct sales and couselling sales (depending on the type of client visited). Learned to develop my own sales techniques, my own style. Had good partners, some of which I'm still in contact with (going to see two musical shows soon with my ex Quebec colleague). The hardest part of the job was knowing that what I had to say about the marketing decisions had absolutely no impact because nobody was listening to the field sales team, and that impacted directly (and negatively) on our results. The most enjoyable part was when I was visiting my clients and doing what I do the best : selling ! Job was fun for the first 7-8 years, when I had development to do on my territory, but the poor market vision of the management team, the lack of any recognition (despite having achieved the biggest sale by a rep in the history of the company) and the limited possibilities of advancement and salary increase led me to check elsewhere to find a more motivating environment in line with other interests that I have (namely, the medical/pharmaceutical field).
