The manager was disrespectful to the young coworkers. But some coworkers were very polite. Management was poor and break the rules of the workplace but write up an employee that breaks one rule if it is by accident or unintentional. Do not recommend working here.

If the feeling at home office in Winnipeg extended to retail stores, this would be a great place to work.Very poor upper management.Lots of favoritism overlooking seasoned employees.Bullying abusive store manager

Great management with a friendly and productive workplace. A typical day at work would consist of aiding customers, keeping aisles clean, and checking for returns.I learned how to effectively communicate and work in groups, and how to assist customers. The hardest part was getting used to product information from every department. The most enjoyable part of the job was working with in small groups to complete a task such as restocking or putting back returns and helping customers.

The job is fun, co workers are great! Opportunity for advancement is always available. I have learned more than I imagined at this job in many ways.

Overall its an okay place to work. In my opinion, the management could be severely improved. There are many good people working for the company that get under appreciated. However, it is a good place to work when starting out. The benefits are good.

It was poorly managed and there was too much drama going on. I only worked there to make money while i was in school. I had good hours but wasn't worth it with all the stuff going on.

The profit share is nice, but doesn't make it worth it. The rules or guidelines change, constantly. What one leader tells you, is different than what another leader will tell you the next day. The culture is a bunch of whiny children. Feels like a high school.

I've worked here for almost 4 years and since I first started everyone seemed "nice" couple months has passed and I've never met more people who love to hold grudges and complain every second they get (about other employees). Management and the 'team leaders' are useless and will only cater to those who see this job as a career; most likely those who have been there for more than 6+ years. They have ridiculous rules and there are write-ups made, basically older adults running to management about the teenagers or young adults to basically get fired. EVERYWHERE is the boss there, no one has respect for one another and you won't go 1 full shift about getting an ear full of drama (cashiers specifically - where they all team up on the young ones who actually work). The amount of pay is NOTHING worth a long day of hard work lunging around steel-toed, even the cashiers were never allowed to sit but stand on useless mats they provide that they all trip on everyday. From my experience on working there, I dreaded the last 3 1/2 years with being said I was only getting paid $13.00/hr and after my years of being there I only got a .26cent raise... which I don't even call a raise. Definitely, Princess Auto is NOTHING a great place/environment to work at and there is no such thing as "Teamwork" here.

There are great opportunities to meet a lot of interesting people but the wage is not enough to support an average lifestyle. ----------------------------------------------

working at Princess Auto is a great experience. I learn so much every day and work with a great group of people who care about the customer's satisfaction and providing a royal customer service to every individual who comes through our store

PAL is one of the best companies to work with. Although its a Family owned business, but the culture is no less than a corporate house. Lots to Learn and Excellent place to work.

Great *Team Member staff [except the a couple part-time workers], very helpful for anything you need in the store, they go above and beyond for the customers/guests that they service! But get treated terribly and get no respect from the clueless in-store management. There is next to no room for advancement, you can move up from Team Member to Team Leader{Manager] but that take quite a while like everything else in the company. The extra dollar or so an hour isn't worth the stress and hate received either. After that there is next to no advancement. I've come to notice that management in-store is veryyy good at holding any sort of grudge against you and usually will result in bullying to some extent. Also, they hire at the perfect time for them, every 3 months or so right around [not sure if it's before or after] profit sharing to ensure you don't receive full amount or any after being told you'll receive a nice amount. It's a great company by far, their original morals are strong and are Canadian made. But Princess Auto is only great when you're a customer. We are pushed with multiple tasks and projects with too little time. If you ask for more hours, your current hours are cut in half there is no respect towards employees no communication between management rare to go from part time to full time (regardless of availability and work ethic) we can be sworn and abused by customers, but it's always our fault in the end. The company overall is only out to make the customers happy. they need to focus on the people helping make heir customers happy.

my day would have started with me walking around the store and helping guests with what they needed, after that i would see if any shelves were empty or ugly looking and needed to be refilled,then i would go on the computer see when some products are arriving or an products being discontinued. I always had at least one other co-worker in my section. it was always busy around noon so thats when i worked the most.I had to memorize the whole store because customers would always pull you away from you section to the other side of the store i even had to memorize certain products for later reference had gotten so good at my job that when customers asked for prices on products i knew most of them.

At princess Auto I started as a trailer reciever. After about 2 months i started working as an sales associate. I loved my co workers because everyone was so respectful and helpful.

Typical Day: Starts with team meeting to give you a run-down on how the store is doing. Everyone then goes to their separate sections and cleans, faces isles, and greets customers. Stock is brought down from storage or from warehouse and shelves are filled. Sometimes merchandising is required for fliers but not always. Very easy job and very rewarding as well, hard work is often complimented and co-workers are friendly and always willing to help. What I learned: How to merchandise for better sale results. How to work in a team environment, more than I'll ever probably need to know about tools, but there is always more to learn about the products that they sell. Minor hydraulics work such as cutting hydraulic hose. Management: Usually really stressed out for not really any reason at all. You can really tell if you're doing a good job because your section manager will be far less stressed if you are. I've never seen anyone be bad about it though. Co-workers: Extremely nice and friendly. Very welcoming environment. Always willing to help, whether it be with merchandising tips, product knowledge, or simply just lifting something that's too heavy for one person. Hardest Part of the Job: Showing customers where things are. Your basic responsibility is your section, but you're expected to know the whole store in case a customer asks you where something is or what it does. Although if you don't know, you can always ask someone in their section where something is or what it's used for. Most Enjoyable Part of the Job: Interacting with customers.
