I'd say that depends on your superior. I once had this flexibility with my previous superior, currently no longer do.
Make sure you continuously ask the night boss any kind of question you can whether you know the answer or not, constantly repeat questions you may know the answers to.
The most stressful part were all the changes that were implemented very quickly, without being able to tell my customers the full story. Especially in the rural centers. They all made internal changes such as booking systems when they weren't entirely prepared to implement them which caused many problems
