no room for growth really, the owners work with you as it is franchised. the location i was at did not trust employees for some reason, and would constantly watch cameras when they were not there. also, employees constantly hide items so they can buy the clothes first and customers miss out on good items. employees are all also kind of young and customer service isnt really there at all.
Worst place I've ever worked. Low pay, terrible management, even worse co workers. I would have daily panic attacks before my shift. Would not recommend.

A Typical day at Platos Closet can either be very clam or very stressful, there is always something to keep an employee busy and on their toes. The staff is always welcoming and you will always gain great employee to employee relationships.
The job taught me a ton, it was fun but busy, hard work but enjoyable. I learned a ton of new things. My only complaint is bad management. They were very inconsistent in there moods, one of them even made someone cry almost everytime she came in. Not the most understanding and jumped to conclusions easily. That was what made me leave in the end. That and no real room for advancement in the end. They would rather bring in a new manager then hire from within
From procedures consistently changing to schedules conflicting with given availabilities, the overall management of this location makes the job more difficult than the position is. Amazing coworkers and simple work. If there were consistent policys and procedures set in place this would be the perfect first job.
I got the job at the interview, went to my first shift and the manager said she would text me about my schedule over the special app we got. Nothing for 3 weeks, no phone calls, no emails, no texts. Then all the sudden I get a response to my email I sent a week prior saying I didn’t respond to some calls (that didn’t happen because I keep my call history) and the they fired me and had already replaced my position. I tried emailing them back to rectify this but I still have no response. Very unprofessional and rude.
Plato's does an excellent job in customer service. They provide customers with the information they need. The store is always tidy and deals are great. Some problems with customers may arise as some people don't fully understand their buy and sell process.
I was with this franchise for a few years the owner is the worst. Will non stop text u to get this done and that but won’t ever come in to help. Girls would come and good fast. No solid training in place. The store is always a mess. People stealing all the time and you have to have the courage to confront them. Call in sick and you’ll get in trouble. Most girls that work there are drama drama and more drama. It’s like high school all over again
Underpaid for the job they require you to do Customers yell at you 24/7 for not buying their items so doesn’t go well if you have a sensitive personality . Manager was extremely dramatic and picked favourites among staff. One of the owners was awful she would make at least one person cry every time she came in, she wasn’t there often so it wasn’t a dread all of the time, other two owners were amazing.
Underpaid, drama, no future in company
My experience at Plato's Closet started out positively but went downhill very quickly. The owner gave a false sense of "work/life balance" but was constantly asking employees to work extra hours and extra shifts with no overtime pay. There was constant contact outside of work which disrupts ones personal life. We were not always paid on time and often times there was pay missing if there was a holiday that pay period. The owner was not patient or understanding with their employees and as soon as someone so much as disagreed with an idea of their's, they were either fired or pushed to the point of resigning. Laws were frequently bent, such as pay after termination and holiday pay. I would never recommend anyone work here and wish the current employees good luck.
Long hours, late pay, bad ownership
Great environment. Understanding management. Able to communicate and make changes when necessary. Flexible hours to accommodate school/work load. Great opportunity for advancement and promotions. Coworkers become second family. Busy hours and requires patience and persistence.
Pay should be higher for the things/customers we have to deal with
Working at Platos Closet has been an extremely rewarding and eye opening experience. This job, unlike common retail stores, has the additive layer of purchasing gently used clothing. This has forced me to constantly work to improve my customer service, as it is challenged everyday. Thus, the hardest part about this job is having to educate individuals about our process and why we may have been unable to purchase their items. On the contrary, Platos has a wide range of customers that come to shop/sell that enjoy catching up, seeing whats new in the store and may be wanting some assistance searching for a specific item/outfit. The staff, management and employers are some of the most amazing people you will get the chance of working with. Everyone gets along great and often develop friendships outside of work. Management and scheduling is extremely accommodating and flexible. Overall, Platos Closet is a great job that provides you with opportunity to grow in new roles, and stay up to date with the latest fashion and trends!
