I am now well versed in how to take care of many different types of pets, I enjoy both the busy and down times of the job as there are so many things to do and to keep busy. Many customers bring in their animals which makes the day much more enjoyable. Everyone who works within this setting is happy and approachable. There is heavy lifting, but in turn I feel I have become stronger.
Lots of time to work alone, or with others, very flexible to needs
Minimum wage, part time hours
I’ve had stressful jobs before but PV... seriously the best environment ever. I don’t know if I just got really lucky with my coworkers but also customers are also 1000x more friendly too! It’s never stressful and it’s super relaxed sometimes, it doesn’t even feel you’re working! I love going into work and especially meeting all the animals that come in too :)
My experience at Pet Valu was wonderful and I wish it could last longer. That is the type of job i was aiming to get so i'm glad i got to try it out and get some experience in retail. I did all of the basics and as a coop student they had me do whatever they were too busy to do or needed help with so I got to do pretty much everything except I was never fully trained on cash. I am upset that they didn't focus on cash more but I go to do some important jobs either way. My favourite part of working there was the shipment days where there was always something to do and we had a routine for the most part and routine is a great thing to have at work. The manager and owner were wonderful and made me feel at home almost instantly. The staff were just as if not more welcoming and helpful showing me the ropes. I would go back there in a heart beat!

Had no issues what so ever while working at Pet Valu for my co-op. I enjoyed it a lot. I learned how to stock, talk too customers and assure them what food type might be best for their pet and even learned how to work on cash. I was very appreciative that they let me do my placement there.
Assisting customers with product information, answering phones, cleaning the store, restocking product. It was a very small place to work, with a few employees. Everyone was very close and like a family. Management was amazing and extremely understanding. There was nothing overly difficult about this job that stands out. Everything about this job was enjoyable, working with animals and the customers.
