It was an awesome place to start but it just wasn't for me. I put a lot of effort and didn't get showed any appercaition. I wish I would have been able to stay and work but it wasn't for me

Pet Valu Albany was an amazing place to work! You quickly get absorbed into the family atmosphere with management who truly care for your professional and personal life. Everyday was a joy to go to work. I will miss my Pet Valu family very much as I moved to ON.

Very poorly managed. Employees are not valued unless they are robots to the people who make the money. If you have an opinion you are the outsider. Favoritism is a problem. They allow verbal threats and dont do anything about it

In the time I was there the company's focus seemed to change from taking care of the customer to pushing their own product and it really affected the overall work environment causing good people to leave.

Most stores have very lazy staff, sit on their phones all day. I am a hard worker and when you get very lazy co-workers it very hard.

They keep management busy but hire poor employees and expect you to build them up. Challenges in the workplace include standing for long periods of time and quickly resolving problems. Great training is provided and ongoing support is always there.

Fronting and stocking shelves, lots of heavy lifting, you normally work on your own. Responsible for store janitorial work. Poor management and upper management. You do not go to district manager or HR with issues as they strictly work for the company. High staff turnover. They lose a lot of great staff because of the managers (micro manage, there way or the highway, even if not up to company standards). Some managers ran down their staff in front of customers and other staff. Most co-workers were awesome to work with and dealing with customers was a great part of the job. Most discouraging part of the job is when you work by yourself, lineup at the till and customers waiting for assistance, lost a lot of customers because of this. If you worked a full shift you received a lunch break, but there were no coffee breaks allowed.

I barely worked there. About a months time and it felt forever.

Was hired on the spot and given a key, only training is for how to work the till -no training about procedures or anything.


Expected to know and understand everything without being shown, not eased into physical work no 15 mins of break only unpaid 30 mins.


Manager talks about current and ex employees behind their backs to other employees and customers and thinks its ok to yell at an employee and say they have no right to speak.
