Overwhelmed by lack of leadership
Red Seal Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic (Ancien employé) – Calgary, AB – 5 avril 2018
Worked the night shift with 2 other guys, got tones of overtime because the work is never ending. Corporate creates management positions that don’t need to exist and always hires outside instead of moving anyone up. The supervisor who was hired for nights had no experience in heavy duty truck shops, was basically there to answer the phone which was nice but he’d always be asking us what to tell the customer so we might as well have just kept answering the phone ourselves. Basically 2 of us on the floor were journeymen but our shop supervisors mechanical experience was nill. In the white collared world do interns get hired on as management? I quit after that just couldn’t handle the puppet mastery from corporate, usually a Forman/supervisor knows trucks themselves, it’s tough to bounce ideas off someone who doesn’t know anything. If you can handle that kind of weirdness it’s not a bad place to work, the guys on nights were great.
Overtime and weekly pay
