Teaching in Peel is a fantastic job and very rewarding. The day is never dull but can often be stressful and chaotic depending on the day. There is a great deal of curriculum to cover which can be extremely difficult, but there are many outlets to receive help from such as the mentor program.
Long hours outside of the traditional work day.
Teaching varies from teacher to teacher and the time and commitment you put into it is up to you. When I was teaching (with PDSB) I had very little work/life balance. Teaching is the type of job that is never finished, you can always do more, plan more, read more, etc. which makes the job interesting, fulfilling and rewarding, however you need to find balance so you do not burn out.

Peel Board is a good place to work from Primary school, through to Middle schools and on to High Schools. The salary and benefits are very good for established teachers. There are many opportunities to move laterally within the board as well as opportunities to move into Administration.
Good working hours and holidays
There is no day that is ever the same, the job requires a constant juggle of things to keep moving towards success.

High needs areas
A great place to work! Many opportunities to become a "whole" person. Clean, well-kept schools, well budgeted programs, tremendous support from staff.
A school district that serves approximately 155,000 students at more than 240 schools in Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon.
I teach students in grades Kindergarten to Grade 6. I typically teach lesson plans that teachers have left for me but once in a while I am able to incorporate my own ideas and lessons into the day. The most enjoyable part of my job is working with the children and establishing relationships with children in classes that I teach on a regular basis. It is important to me to be able to have even a small impact on the children every single day. I also have great respect and admiration for all of the teachers and administrators who I meet at the different schools and I enjoy getting to know them and learning from them.
Excellent working environment and conditions.
Can be inconsistent work (i.e. not every day).
I love being an occasional teacher because I enjoy teaching at the primary level. Children make me smile with the funniest and unexpected comments and behaviours. Classroom management is a must to set up properly at the beginning of your day or you are in for a rough day. It is a fun and rewarding career that fits into my busy lifestyle with two young children.
I can pick my own schedule.
The income is not stable.
Every day is a new experience at work. Working with children is a passion with me. Some days are challenging with students with different needs, while other days are fun and relaxing.
you meet new students and staff everyday
It ishard to build contacts and relations with the staff
I enjoy dealing with variety of people and that I thrive working in challenging and stimulating environment.
Mainly teaching grade 1-8 in various schools. My educational experiences have allowed me to develop expertise in a wide range of areas concerning children and adolescence . Some of these areas include the different stages of child development and the need to encourage students to explore their environment. I have also learned the importance of communication between school and home and the need to provide a safe and inclusive environment, where all students can feel successful
