Paramed
Personal Support Worker (Employé actuel) –  Kitchener, ON22 août 2019
Paramed has been a great place to gain plenty of experience for my future career as a nurse. They also worked wonderfully with not only my school schedule but my fiancé’s schedule as well. They paid beyond what the competitors were paying and there was always excess shifts that could be picked up.
Points positifs
Flexible, paid for gas/travel

lots of hours
PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER (Ancien employé) –  Kitchener, ON18 juin 2019
there was always more work if needed when I worked there.

my children were younger when I worked for them. if I needed to take the day off last min - it was ok. that was really great since I was going through a messy break up.

not much help in the 'help' or delegation department...but nothing was too hard you couldn't figure it out

Not Worth It
Personal Support Worker (Employé actuel) –  Kitchener, ON20 avril 2019
Badly managed company with a large turnover. Pay is unnacceptable given the varied circumstances you are subjected to. No travel time given between patients, so you are always behind schedule. Management doesnt give a flying f**k about you.

Work is good, management not much
Registered Nurse (Ancien employé) –  Kitchener, ON18 décembre 2018
Great work for all beginners. A good platform to learn different skills. Pay is not really good for the amount of work and hardships that nurses take. Management is a fake and will never appreciate the hardwork of nurses.

Stay far away!
Nurse (Ancien employé) –  Kitchener, ON8 août 2018
Absolute WORST company I have ever worked for. They don’t even deserve one star! Management is on a complete power trip, and will belittle and degrade you in front of other workers just to show they are in charge. If you enjoy working for pennies on the dollar this is absolutely the company for you. They pay their nurses less than PSWs and expect them to work beyond full scope. Pay cheques are consistently wrong, and are never rectified until weeks later. They don’t think that people have a life outside of work, or actual responsibilities. Pay was always missing at LEAST half of worked hours, but because management is lazy and inconsiderate, they expect you to wait weeks to be reimbursed and then try to blame you for their mistakes. Training is nil and they don’t care if you aren’t comfortable doing skills or tasks. They tell you to read the policy and procedure book and figure it out instead of actually training you, which puts the patients at risk and your license on the line. The clinic nurses have it even worse... they see upwards of 20 patients/day and are paid less than community nurses and are expected to work through their breaks. Workplace bullying is guaranteed and management doesn’t care... they actually warn you that employees will bully you if they don’t like you. This company has one of the highest turn over rates and can’t keep supervisors/employees because of management. They have such a hard time keeping nursing supervisors and there is a new one about every month. They are essentially useless and a lot of them don’t have actual nursing experience and can’t  plus... answer questions as they don’t know how to do/perform a lot of the skills. I could literally write a book with all of the negative traits within this company. Please save yourself the time and effort and look else where. Labour board is actively investigating them for a number of different reasons.  moins

Not a forever job due to salary wages
Assignment Coordinator (Ancien employé) –  Kitchener, ON16 mai 2018
Always room for growth, but probably because of the high turn over rate. Management, supervisors, and fellow employees are always kind but this doesn't make up for the terrible salary they give coordination for the job they do on a daily basis. (Just under 34,000). Good raises are not given to the employees unless head office feels they can afford it after having their nice big chunk of bonuses. It's a shame they don't appreciate and pay their coordinators (and other roles) more then they do because they all do a lot for little pay!

Typical day at work
Registered Practical Nurse (Employé actuel) –  Kitchener, ON5 avril 2018
No day is ever the same in community nursing. It keeps your physical assessment skills up to par and your critical thinking must be top notch. If you re looking for variety and flexibility in your schedule then community is the place to be.

upper management is terrible
RPN (Employé actuel) –  Kitchener, ON14 mars 2018
very poor software you cant do your job. Upper management has no idea how to treat their nurses and staff. pay is terrible and benefits are very limited.
immediate nursing managers are great and try their best to help, but their hands are tied to make any real change.
Community nursing is great and challenging, the job its self is great, its the company and the people who run it in Kitchener are that really suck at their jobs.
Co workers are great and help out when they can.

Personal Support Worker & nurse (Ancien employé) –  Kitchener, ON30 janvier 2018
The past few years the company has really gone downhill. They don't have any consideration for the employees and you are just a number. The higher people keep getting richer and the workers keep in the same place. There is no opportunity for advancement either because they management will not accomodate a new job or school, they will tell you to leave. Your feelings don't count! Despite several staff meetings and many unsatisfied workers, the management doesn't change. There is a lot of people leaving every week and if you think seniority counts-not here! I don't recomend this company to anyone. They are also 3 months behind in getting back to you of wether or not not you got the job..definetely one of the 10 worst companies in healthcare-very poorly run. They overlap clients in your schedule and with no travel time. Every day is a constant reminder to please add travel time... it is exhausting!

terrible place to work
Personal Support Worker (Ancien employé) –  Kitchener, ON17 octobre 2017
It's not even just a terrible job. It's terrible toward people who are counting on a service to better their lives. The office part of the operation has no compassion for the field workers and clients. In the office, it is a lot of just filling shifts with no regard to how continuity makes a large difference

enjoyable working with patients
Personal Support Worker (Employé actuel) –  Kitchener, ON22 août 2017
The only review I can give is that the most enjoyable part of the job is the patients that we see on a regular basis to provide personal care or just to sit and visit with said patient.

One of the worst
Registered Nurse (Ancien employé) –  Kitchener, ON2 juin 2017
Literally one of the worst companies I have ever worked for. Pay is no good, the hours are atrocious. even with full time you have no guarantee of hours, expected to be available even when you're not scheduled. I never received a schedule until the week before very earliest and was expected to work excessive hours (like 11 night shifts in a row, day shifts followed by night shifts followed by day shifts) Not to mention many clients were going without their shifts filled because scheduling staff were too lazy/incompetent to do their jobs. Even tried to file an official harassment complaint and was completely ignored. Almost every client and staff member i met was unhappy with this company.

good part time work
Personal Support Worker (Employé actuel) –  Kitchener, ON19 avril 2017
The flexibility made it good to be a part time employee to stay home while the children grew up and while I went back to school.

A company that doesn't care
Coordinator (Employé actuel) –  Kitchener, ON3 mars 2017
Coming from a coordinators point of view Paramed is a mess.
Unorganized, understaffed, miss managed. Low pay for a very difficult job at times. My advice for anyone looking to apply at Paramed do not plan to be there for a long period of time. They will suck the life out of you. And that goes for Coordination to PSWs to Nurses.
Points positifs
lots of hours
Points négatifs
low pay, bad management
