A typical day at work is to patrol the site, controlling the access and make sure that the site rules and regulations are respected. All my work is done in a vehicle provided by the company.

After a long time, the company still lacks in a lot of things. They lack giving support their employees. There's no proper guidance that would supplement the initial training. The compensation scheme still can be improved to the satisfaction and to what the employees deserved.
Points positifs
There were a few improvements already done within the company, management somehow listened, but takes a while to take action on it.

They force you into doing overtime as they are constantly under staffed. Don't believe a word they say. They will lie straight to your face just to get you to sign on with them and then your trapped. The pay is far to low. The management don't care about any of their employees. Just all around horrible.
Points positifs
None
Points négatifs

No two sites are the same so everyone's experience will be vastly different. However if you enjoy variety, a special coverage position would be good a fit for you. Of course a steady primary site will give you greater security and certainty. As someone who's done both ( 1 year crt pool, 2 years primary site) there's pros and cons to both. Great part time work for students, especially if you have good benefits through school since paladin wont give part-time workers benefits.
Points positifs
flexibility, variety, job security
Points négatifs
no part time benefits, long hours, boring

Been an employee with many security companies in the past (GardaWorld, Commissionaires, K9) and I must say Paladin is far worse when it comes to management, pay, and benefits. The company is very cheap they do not even give you new clothes when requested and feel more comfortable handing down old clothes such as jackets that are ripped. They pay their guards a dollar or two above minimum wage and when competitor companies pay around the $20 mark. We work at high risk sites such as hospitals and get asked to do insane work that we are not even trained to appropriately do. Alberta Health Services pays Paladin over $50 per hour and most of us get $16 a hour out of that. During COVID-19, this company did nothing to help out the guards. We didn’t receive any incentives let alone any PPE to help keep us safe. Whenever management is contacted with a problem the only solution they have is we will get back to you only for them to never get back. One of the most horrible security companies out there. I would have been long gone from this company but I have built a bond with some of the team, but due to the lack of support and pay we received during these hard times the team is considering quitting and moving on to other companies. I too will be leaving Paladin after 2 miserable years for another security opportunity that provides better pay and benefits for it’s employees with respect to the type of work they do. If you want to make a dollar or two over minimum wage I would suggest just working fast food rather than Paladin.
Points positifs
Rotation shifts
Points négatifs
Pay, benefits, protection, incentives

In the time I worked at paladin I had some good times and I learned alot but in the end I had a manager who put a target on my back within my team just because he didnt like the fact that I wouldnt let him give me an attitude and because I didnt want to do three 16 hour shifts in a four day rotation every week due to them not being able to keep staff because they couldnt afford the wage needed to cover living expenses
Points positifs
Experience is great if u live with ur parents have no bills to pay and want to be a cop
Points négatifs
Never get to see your family, generally have to pull massive overtime to pay your bills, survive

I worked casual part-time security at a psychiatric facility. The only things I got out of it was experience to be able to put on my resume, and a new perspective on what I wanted to do for a career (I'm a criminology graduate). The $12/hr was and is not nearly enough for the healthcare security jobs and the shifts are 12 hours long usually. I quit a year ago and it's taken me this long to write an honest review. I really liked the management team that was there at the time and the staff was overall supportive and helpful.
Points positifs
Great management, flexible schedule, varible sites to work at, great experience for law enforment or human services.
Points négatifs
Not nearly paid enough, long shifts, stressful environment, majority male staff

The hardest part of the job is enforcing policies on individuals in unfortunate situations due to their circumstances. It is very humbling and makes you appreciate what you have.

Keeping in mind I have not worked for the company for some time and my information may be out of date, having worked for Paladin Security for numerous years on several contracts, I continually felt as though the company had two major problems with its middle management.

Number one, the company underwent a cycle every two to three years where they would gut the existing management structure whether due to expansion or due to controversy. In my opinion, they would bring in someone with limited or no security experience and who had their own impressions on what would make a good security officer. These new managers would then go out of their way to lambast and impugn the existing structure and call into question "the way things were done", and would take examples of singular mistakes -- and there are mistakes in any business -- as if they were the norm rather than the exception. Security is one of the few professions that deliberately and openly documents its own mistakes, and yet the business seemed to foster a culture that would punish harshly for admitting fault and accepting blame rather than covering things up. Rarely would a new manager attempt to learn the current structure without prejudice and reserve their judgement for improvements until they had a good feel for how the employees behaved and why. The middle management often seemed to believe that security was a paramilitary structure that required discipline and obedience without question or justification. To couch it in military terms, the senior-rank enlisted officers who defended their employees and actions

do not get sick at work because they will remove you from site and you will not get your site back. they will not tell you why you are removed if they say it is not because of the covid. they have a worker at the office who will give you shifts that might not work well for you then say that if you do not do the paladin courses online they will put you on the poopy list then they will tell you to sit by the phone and wait for them to call. and lets not forget that they will want you to do things for them on your own time and not get paid. If you were a concord guard in the past and wanted to work for paladin I would not do it as they will treat you like poopy. not worth working for and not worth fighting for. Bottom line they treat you like a number not as a human being, also very dissapointed and extremely disgusted on how they operate, I am quite surprised that I have not contacted the labor board on their poor performance as a security company. Once again not worth fighting for
Points positifs
10 year pin after 12 years of services
Points négatifs
12 years or hard work to be kicked to the side like yesterday trash

This is a job where you need to be aware of what you are getting into BEFORE you start working. At times it can be extremely boring and monotonous, however at other times can be stressful and fast paced. The more you learn during your time, te faster you will be able to move up. Starting as an on-demand guard will mostly be patient watches (sitting in a chair for 12 hours). The more you connect with teams, and the Peace Officers, the more chances you will get at better oportunities and spots. This takes some time and patience, and if you would like to get experience in healthcare/law enforcement, then this job is exactly what you need.
Points positifs
Great experience, working as a team, guaranteed hours.
Points négatifs
Can become extremely boring, pay is low.

I have never felt more neglected than when I was working here. You'd think because this is a security agency that security officers are given importance and are taken care of, but that wasn't the case. We were always neglected and our needs weren't met. The management always left us on our own and would disown us once we made even one little mistake.

I worked without properly being shielded from the elements for an outside post throughout the winter. Constant double standards, eg. Never leave your partner, even to use the washroom because the site is too dangerous but when no one else shows up on site they make you work alone. No one at head office takes responsibility, they are incapable of proper communication and payroll.

This company is extremely unorganized!! They never gone u much advanced notice for shifts it’s impossible to have a life or other jobs working with them as they are not consistent. Eventually I just got fed up and significantly reduced my hours with them. Wasn’t worth the boringness if the job. Also the Edmonton office is garbage. I started out of red deer and was way better

Worked for a couple of security agencies and Paladin is the best one I've worked for. Continuing training programs. Get help with your license, uniforms, and lots of posts to choose from. This place is full of professionals. Didn't feel like I was just a security guard. I got a better appreciation for my job and the people I work with.
Points positifs
Good pay, stable hours
Points négatifs
No major concerns
