In a fast paced, often stressful and emotionally challenging work environment, Ottawa Inner City Health provides a superior support system for its employees. Beginning with a comprehensive orientation session and one on one supported on-the-job training, OICH employees are given all the tools and resources to be successful and to feel supported in an often challenging work environment. Extra training is offered on an ongoing basis and opportunities for advancement are available to any and all staff. While seniority may ultimately be a deciding factor in promotions, all staff are actively encouraged to apply for available promotions of interest. Pay and benefits easily meet standards of a living wage.

-No room for advancement-Non-negotiable shift work -Passive aggressive management team -Very high turnover for staff -Low pay in comparison to expectations and burnout -No matter what you give to this agency, the reward is burnout and little to no compassion -Client are amazing-Harm reduction is the way

I love working for this organization. Very supportive to education, and providing excellent care to clients that are marginalized as well as street involved.

OICH is an amazing place to work. The management is very involved with the staff and always do their best to support the staff. At times this job can be extremely stressful and there is lots of support for staff. There in lots of encouragement from management to help support a healthy client- nurse relationship.
