Please see above. I have been with the company for a short amount of time and our franchisee is heavily involved with the day to day. At times, our personality types are polarized and create friction but I know he cares deeply about his staff and his business.

Micro-managed, high expectations with minimal reward (commissions)
Poor training, and ongoing drama

In summary: great way to gain experience in sales and costumer service (CRM, etc). Interact with members and build relationships.

A fun environment, great clients and positive space to start out. The team mentality can get pretty competitive at times and favourites are sometimes played. Best hope you’re on the right side of that. Overall I enjoyed the time there for the most part. However if there is ever a disagreement or discrepancy with the bosses there is no one to report that to other than them. Corporate offers no help and refuses to get involved basically leaving you to fend for yourself in any times of dispute. If you have any infractions, leave on bad terms or are fired, they ban you from being able to work at all OTFs. So basically there is no room for any debate on any issues. You have to sit down and shut up, or leave with no option of return. It’s easy to feel replaceable despite that you give so much of yourself.

Unpaid online training taking numerous hours prior to official hiring and the expectation of engaging in additional learning, social media participation, etc

not well rune by the owner always have issues that are never resolved pinned employee against mangers. no benefits or retirement plan, bad hours, no help from corporate either.

It's good place to work really inviting but have to make 40 calls and don't seem like they want to be like other gym's but it's almost very similar to the approach.

Will replace you at a drop of a hat. They let me go by ghosting me for a couple days, no feedback or anything. Complete waste of time and very pushy sales. They don’t care about anything but getting more members. The management is very robotic with zero personality. Super fake, terrible vibes.

Very unprofessional and they did not provide me with pay stubs or adequate training. The work atmosphere is horrible and toxic. The owner and manager have no idea what they are doing and display that multiple times through failed meetings and a poor effort to fix problems.

Manager at the south surrey location is great and easy to talk to but the assistant manager is belittling and unfair. The staff are fun and always happy.

The location i worked at had slow foot traffic and little opportunities so it was hard to reach monthly sales goals of 20. I would always get close and put in max effort, I would open the studio work over 40 hour weeks 12 days in a row. I put so much effort and love into the studio and after a year of working there they decided to cut me and my co workers hours and hire new staff in front of us. The manager even defended me to get my hours back. Literally only care about the numbers

If you're a full-time student, I highly recommend this job. I worked as a front desk/sales rep and working with OTF is like another family. People treat each other with respect and appreciation, as well as the members. Pay is good because you get commission!

It's unfortunate that one franchise owner can ruin a brand so easily. OTF Calgary South has the worst turnover rate, worst management and is consistently bullying employees and leaving them with zero work/like balance. You will be expected to work overtime - adhere to blackout days (no days off mid month or end month making it impossible to take time off), be on call 24/7 for call party's and meetings whenever the Regional feels like it. If you are able to think independantly and want to work somewhere that provides proper training and support, work anywhere but here.

I worked at the seton location. When they hired me the said I would be full time and permanent the said my starting wage was 15 and hour but when I started making sales it would drop to 13 an hour. The management was not good everyone talked negative behind everyone’s back. I was kept until after Christmas when I then got a phone call saying that there wasn’t enough work for me now and my last shift was the night before. The never told me that I was only in vet Christmas and later on was informed that I was actually seasonal but they didn’t want to tell me that because they couldn’t risk being short staffed for the holiday. I would not recommend working here to anyone.

Only worked for 3 weeks before getting laid off, because my schedule wasn't what they wanted (even when I told them that I'd be busy when they asked during the interview.) They didn't give breaks to employees at my location, even when you had an 8.5 hour shift and started at 5 a.m.
The pay was nice, but not for what they expect from you on your first day, it caused a lot of anxiety and stress to try and fit everything into my daily schedule. And if you wanted to switch shifts, good luck. The atmosphere is okay if you like pushing for sales, but if you're slightly more shy, it can be overwhelming. Company is very concerned about making loads of money, and not about having good customer service. Overall, wouldn't recommend but it was a good learning experience while it lasted.

Fun atmosphere but pay structure is different depending on the managing partners. Do not work for the one in Mississauga if I have to give any suggestions.

They care about taking people's money and that's about it. Run for the hills. It will be out of business within 10 years I can almost guarantee you. It's a shame, great workout but toxic place to work.

Overall I love the message of the company. The owner however is someone who goes against everything I believe in and I hated working for him. I didn’t learn anything new, just more of the same. The owner put me on edge and made me uncomfortable more often than not. No room for mistakes or error, no room for growth.

While I enjoy the Orangetheory workout itself, the employers of OTF Mississauga are terrible. Management are not trustworthy and can be inappropriate at times at work. The staff turn around is quick, and there is little room for advancement, even if you are a great employee. You are often overworked and underpaid.

Not the smartest place to work, make you feel like you are doing a good job then stab you in the back. One of the owners is completely disrespectful and doesn't know how to treat employees, this owner doesn't understand that the reason why the turnover rate is so high is because of that owner. Let's go of people for the at most ridiculous reason's, for the sake of just letting them go because they feel they don't need you anymore. The owner talks about reflecting on your self when when the owner doesn't even reflect on themselves and doesn't step back and think about what the owner is doing to drive employees out the door, also creates stories to make it seem like you're the problem.

Makes you feel as if you have no idea on what you're doing and tries to tell lies to your face making you seem as if you're the problem, doesn't look out for the nature or culture of the studio nor does the owner care about you as a person.


Completely numbers driven and doesn't look out for the members and what they want, tells lies about you to other employees and doesn't truly care about getting to know you or the members. Only benefit from working there is a free membership that you can use whenever you want other than that absolutely no good came from it expect the relationships I made with fellow staff members and studio members.


Doesn't realize that in order to keep members you need to have an employee that actually goes above and beyond for the member, I learnt nothing from this job. Doesn't make smart business moves and like I said does not care about the members and which staff

Best part of working at OTF is the free membership that comes with it. The workouts are amazing and super fun. Not sure I would work there if it wasn't for the free classes.
