Yes, OIC requires no-criminal-record check. It also seeks references from applicants' previous employers. It will take a couple of weeks to complete the checks.

The person who interviewed me left the school for a much better school environment. The interview was great, I sat with the Vice principal, we talked about my skills, and typical questions that go on in an interview. I was hired on the spot.

Interview questions?? LOL! The interview is a joke as they are always so desperate to hire just ANYONE who walks in.

They basically hire anyone who has a Ontario College of Teachers certificate. They never called my references, nor asked me to get a background check. There are so many teachers who leave after one semester because the pay is NEVER, EVER, on time. The man who interviewed me was very nice. He was a Dean, and he really seemed to care about the school, the staff and the kids. I ended up leaving after one semester because the checks never were available when the contract stated it would be. I was to be paid on the 10th of every month, yet, I had to beg the lady at the payroll department, because she ALWAYS said, "there is no money still to pay you yet". What the heck is that? What kind of work place makes the worker beg and always have to ask for their paychecks? The staff and kids were really nice, but there was so many things missing in the building. The cafeteria was under "construction" for over 2 years and was never finished and kids would eat in the classrooms. I finally left and would encourage anyone to really do their homework before they even think of going for an interview there.
