Busy especially during Christmas season...enjor working because you see lots of workers inside...the management are easy to talk to...benifits are good.

You have to wake up very early since morning shifts start at 7:00 and right away you are placed on the line. You are treated like a machine really. The long shifts and harsh physical labour will make your feet and hands sore. Sometimes you'll have to lift 50 lbs boxes of hams for an hour straight which will destroy your back and they don't slow down. Also your in a cold environment, which might not feel so good during the winter. The staff are just as cold as the plant. There are some nice ones but generally everyone is miserable. If they paid $3 or $4 more than minimum it MAY be worth it but they won't unless you've worked there for years. They do award generous bonuses for not missing a day for the whole year, and there is a lot of job security since there is a high turnover. It's definitely not a job for everybody though.

Very productive. Repetitive workstyle. Bonuses and pretty decent benefits. Too much drama though and poor management skills. Issues with bullying and sexual harrassments that don't get resolved properly. Unfair promotions, they tend to give out to people who are still on probation instead of those who worked really hard for years towards it.

The jobs is consistent with schedule and shift you work. You get the basic insurance and holidays but pay is the same as working in any entry level job. Management is a joke and doesn't do much about any workplace hazards or issues.

A day at work depended on department but one could expect to do line work, packaging and palatizing. overall it was pretty repetitive, so you new what to expect going into work

It's a great place has alot of benefits. It's days and the union is real good there You get promoted if your a hard worker you get a certain amount of sick days. Which is good you get monthly and yearly bonuses.

this unique food plan in red deer, helps a lot of this community members. In case of time, no one in the plan will agree how we spent our daily activities all our time is between home and work daily till, weekends.

When I worked here, I had fun and also worked hard. The people are great to work with and it makes the day go faster. I wish I could have stayed but I was told that they had over hired 72 people and let us all go.

A typical day at work is boring I learned heavy equipment machines. Our management are good. My job is hard but I like it. We have team work.

This job was also very intensive. Always working in extreme cold conditions or extreme heat in some cases. A lot of foreigners made it difficult to work there. They do not always posses the right skills to communicate orally.

Olymel is good company a typical day at work was hard because you work using knifes you have to be careful do not hurt your self or your coworkers they guarantee 8 hours every day most of the time the offer over time i learned to use knifes also special cuts of meet co workers are nice , was nice to work with people who really like to work like team ,the hardest part of the job was the temperature -5 c all day and the most enjoyable of the work was i was only working monday to friday

Working at night shift, Monday to Friday I learned a lot to provide a good relationships with my co worker and the management. The hardest part of the job is I have to left heavy meat even if I'm pregnant if I'm not pregnant that time I can do it I'm used to left heavy. The most enjoyable part of my job is your friend around you.You can't mind the time as you can enjoyed with your job.

all product is different code, weight, box, and bag. or you can be making same cut over and over and over again. drive pallet jack, train people. depends on the job and there are tons of them.

Its not so busy at this time, less hogs are killed by the month of January to July so we have lots of under-time at work. I learned different cuts and how to make job easier but normally your hands get sore at the end of the day. The management is good like other companies which are implementing seniority. Good benefits are offered. Most of the workers are from Ukraine,Philippines Etc.. we work together as a team. The hardest part of the job is when your hands get sore but still you have to finish your job. I enjoy working each day.

40 hrs.a week plus overtime if needed.Ive'd learned how to handle quality products,to be precise in cutting meat and to be good workmate to different people.Olymel gives good benefits to workers.we work as a team to get the job done.is when the costumer will check thier orders,they observe very well on the line.is when the costumer and the management put thier two thumbs up.

A typical day:-You work your 8 hours while hoping those around you do their jobs, there's no overtime, and you aren't injured.What I learned:-If you have a sense of honour and integrity and wish to take pride in your work then Olymel probably isn't the place for you.-Always keep a record of your hours so you know if your being paid properly.-Quantity is much more important than quality, unless VIP's are touring the plant inwhich case quality becomes priority.-Getting things done quickly is more important then safety-Do your Job. Don't help others unless order to by a supervisor.-The 'line' must be kept running whenever possible. If your backed up or broken down and aren't on a vital part of the line, work faster, fix it quickly, or do whatever your supervisor deems necessary to keep the line running. If their orders violate health and/or safety practices you can refuse, however, this may result in various forms of punishment (if you comply with their orders and are caught by other plant authorities, you may be blamed and punished).Management:-For the most part, are honourless, corrupt, and highly favouritist. Keep on their good side and they'll let you get away with many things, get on their bad side and harrasement won't be out of the question.-care about speed more then anything else, including quality and safety.Co-workers:-many are there because they needed a job and Olymel will hire anyoneHardest part:-fighting the urge to quitMost enjoyable part:-when you tell them you quit
