you need patience to cope with different character of co workers each time moving to a different level job you need to learn it slowly but surely not rushed and pretend to know everything that way you can hurt yourself always wear PPE for your own safety and be concience of your work place that is be careful of hazardous spot
If you only speak French, there are almost no bilingual supervisor's or team leaders. They will tell you anything you want to hear to get what they want. your opinion doesn't matter. They don't take into account how hard or well you work. The sanitizer they use and get's on the meat smells like bleach. The place is disgusting halfway through the evening shift (ex: broken up gloves in the metal pans). The benefits are good but the pay is not worth the work and environment. If you are out of options or NEED any kind of income, take the job but always keep an eye out for something better.
Limited french, Manipulators, Bad environment
The people you work with are fantastic, every area has their own clics, You get paid weekly, if you make it passed probation the benefits are great. If you don't have a vehicle, don't choose evenings or nights. Bus will take you around 2:30 and 3pm, your shift starts at 3:45, if you miss the bus that's it, next one doesn't go to Olymel. At night a bus takes you home, you usually arrive home 30-50 minutes later
As a younger adult haveing medical Problems a Older person should have its Hard to Want to stay there and sometimes you cant escape from injurys and its stressfull
Working a production line with generally same people day to day, or completely different line of people every day isn't too bad. Dealing with management and how lack of understanding in health is poor. They see you as a number and that is all. You could do good all the time and have a couple of mishaps and it's almost like the end of the world, but almost never notice all the extra effort and work you've put into everything that comes with different jobs.
Cold environment, repetative mind numbing tasks. Management is the very epitome of nepetism and favoritism. Most employees are miserable but stay to make ends meet. Work culture includes rampant racism, sexism and bullying. The company does what they can to pay as little as possible for often back breaking labour and the union allows it.
Joined Olymel less than a month ago. Was sent to hospital by my supervisor due to extreme dizziness and nausea. Turns out to be Vertigo, and the hospital put me off for two weeks. Once returning to work, the management provided me with another position for two days to help ease me back into work. On the third day, I was positioned back at my regular spot in the rotation in my original department. A few days go by and I had another dizzy spell. Supervisor sent me home, and within an hour later I received a call stating to not return.
I have been there almost 2years and have good benefits also bonus incentives. The management team is very hands on . The other employees are welcoming and helpful.
One of the lowest paid jobs i have ever had not to mention its production so you have to keep up with pase and if you don't they will find a IMMIGRANT that will.
Foremans and lead hand are pricks and upper management has no idea whats going on
I have 4 years expererience working for Olymel and they have great work and safety procedures aswell as great working benefits. They train and take care of their employees well. It is definately an amazing place to work at.
If you're the type of person that likes to just go in and get your hours in and get out, this place is for you!
A little dirty and if you have a weak stomach this is not for you!
A typical day at work includes doing the same position you're placed at for the 8 hours of work or more depending on overtime. The management could be better regarding fairness to employees, favoritism between certain employees and supervisors. Workplace culture is enjoyable. The hardest part of the job depends on what position you are placed within the company. Some jobs positions are harder than other. Usually harder positions have a higher hourly pay rate.
