Great people/strange company

Avis en vedette

L'avis le plus utile, sélectionné par Indeed
Unsure if it's still the same as when I worked there last, but old navy has a weird, cult-like culture for its stores. Names for all the customers that come in, drink the kool-aid kind of training. Most of the people who worked there were awesome, but so much fighting with store managers.

Avoid

Management bullies you and nothing changes when you speak to hr. Most of the staff don’t want to work so few get to pick up the slack for everyone else.

Meh

Management needs a lot of work, always understaffed. Didn’t care whether you were a student or not. Constantly changing rules based on which manager you talked to

not the best place

at first it’s an okay job but later they start to expect too much for the amount you get paid and management is all over the place and hours are cut often too

Strict Management

Decently fun job; however, it feels as if upper management has only become more and more strict with selling the loyalty program. If you can't sell it, your hours get cut. It's exhausting.

Points forts
  • Capacité à atteindre des objectifs personnels
  • Sentiment d'appréciation personnelle
  • Environnement inclusif

There are ups and downs.

Overall team and atmosphere is nice but there's lots of drama and gossip. Staff are prioritized based on how well you do your job only if you go above and beyond. Communication needs improvement. Work can be tiring on busy days since you stand on your feet for long hours. Must be customer focused to sell merchandise and sign up customers for rewards programs. HIGH employee turnover!

Points positifs

Training basics, lead positions, 50% store discount and discounts at gap and banana republic.

Points négatifs

non-negotiable minimum 28+ hr availability, General Manager attitude/coaching/sarcasm/ behaviour to staff is unprofessional

Fast paces, hard to get leave

Fast paced, high expectations. Generally good peers. Hours vary from January through April. Very difficult to get leave of absence even with ample staff

Points positifs

good starter job

Points négatifs

management can be hit or miss

Rude management

Absolutely worst job I’ve ever worked at, horrible hours and rude management. You could be bleeding out and they’ll say oh well not my problem. They dont care about your well being and overall no supportive. Staff was great tho.

workplace

it can be a fun place to work at if you are one of the manger's favorites which you'll know if you are a favorite, otherwise, it's not enjoyable to work at

It can be fun

You get a really nice bunch of diverse people to work with and it can be fun. Management sometimes tend to pick favourites and make you feel it if you have underperformed a task during training. It's also a lot of standing in one place, so get good shoes!

Very fast paced! Not for everyone.

Family oriented. High traffic = Fast paced & lots of work. Team building fundraising events. Growth in specific areas if you want. “Go-go” mentality. The team can be touching go whereas internal drama is concerned. If you want to work very hard with lots of hours + minimum breaks, it’s the job for you. Tip: Keep track of your hours and pay. Managers are strict on sick days, saying “no” to shifts, and required minimum hours.

Points positifs

Good staff come and go, Good events and fundraisers including free lunches, Room up the stepping ladder, if you want get rid of your free time.

Points négatifs

Understaffed at times due to mass quitting’s, Minimum breaks, Barely any days off if you wanting to work as a regular, Poor treatment if you say no to a shift.

It managers are not flexible with ur schedule

I worked there for 1moth and I did like it at the beginning when I got hired and they payed attention and where flexible with my schedule but then after they made me work all week and made me clean in all of my shifts and when I requested that I don't mind cleaning the toilets but not all day everyday I'm not a janitor and I booked time off for family vacation and they said nope u gotta work so I told them I quit

Points positifs

Pay was given on time and it was fun being a cashier

Points négatifs

Not flexible with ur time chart and don't care

part time job

location was slow, and the lack of training. The management was nice enough, but would get mad even if there are zero customers and nothing to do. hardest part of the job is keeping yourself busy even if there are no sales

The Work itself is fun but the management makes it stressful

Typical day at Oldnavy is sizing, sorting and folding clothes. Providing customer service and enrolling customers for Gap loyalty program. Be a cashier whenever needed. Shipment starts at 5 am so you basically take the product out of the boxes and stock the product where it belongs. Also changing the layout of the stores and dressing the mannequins. Management makes things unnecessary complicated and micromanage a lot. you can't use the washroom without informing on Walkie. Every 30 minutes they ask everyone how many customers they enrolled and push you to enroll them when if customer doesn't want too. They expect you to work as fast as a robot. if you are fast but not fast enough you will still get coaching. The management makes you feel bad everyday in the name of "accountability". Overall the work was good but management made the environment toxic for your mental health.

Gossiping and awful management

Got scheduled at 7 AM and they called me to cut my hours just 30 minutes before. Happened twice to me and to other employees. Very pushing and unrealistic expectations. $.20 raise after 6 months working. They talked infront of you and act like they dont mean anything bad at all. People quits like flies.

Points positifs

Employee discount

Points négatifs

Awful management

Undervalued and Ignored

Worked at Old Navy for a bit over a year and a half. In the beginning it was nice, I was treated nicely and got lots of hours during the summer. However, during school was when I noticed a shift. The hours became so low, a 3-4 hour shift a MONTH. Then after a few months, I was given about 4-5 shifts in a week I could hardly get my schoolwork done with any free time. The worst part about the shifts, were that they were always 3-4 hours, and always in the middle of the day. Not in the morning, not at night. Always from about 11-4 pm or so, which left zero chance to make plans with people or to get class work done. But whatever, I put up with it. Then the second summer came around. No hours again. The same small shift once a month or so. I brought this up to them and there was nothing they could do about it apparently. But whatever, school was starting soon. It was going well, not too many hours but enough, about 1-2 shifts a week. Then January came around. No hours for the entire month. Finally in February they bombarded me with so many hours AGAIN that I could not keep up with. I talked to them about it, they told me that they "are enrolling a new work plan" and this would become the new normal.. I finally gave my notice and quit, however they seemed really hesitant on letting me go, asking me to keep thinking it over. I did not. I could not keep up with the inconsistent hours and them literally giving me 20 hours in a week, every week. I could not handle that with school. I tried so hard to do it, too.The turnaround was insanely high. I was honestly one of the only people -

Decent for students

It was a typical sales associate job. It's good for students that need flexible scheduling. It can get either boring or really hectic depending on the time.

Great Employees but an Awful Company

If you are on cash or just sales floor, then it is an enjoyable time. Not bad at all.Managers do have favourites and make it obvious.Short shifts (usually 4-6 hours)If you do shipment. then good luck, heres why:start your shift from 5:00 am or 6:00 am.It is an unrealistic expectation. They keep track of your time.got yelled at a lot for not being able to get 1,962 items unpacked and placed in the store in 3 hours.very understaffed Managers are not encouragingyou will be micromanaged every shiftyou will be followed around by managers

Points positifs

discount, nice co-workers.

Points négatifs

5:30 am shifts, Gossiping Managers, Rude Managers, Understaffed mornings

High volume store with opportunity for career advancement.

The interview was in a group setting and I experienced a medium - high turnover of sales associates, however the managers were professional and kept everyone organized. As a sales associate we were required to run the fitting room, process returns, fols a lot of clothing, and manage the till, which involves occasionally having to deal with angry customers. There are a lot of changing sales to keep up with that can become confusing for associates and customers, but our team handled thongs very smoothly and I enjoyed the relaxed dress code.

Not a good place to work at

When i worked here I enjoyed it at first cause managers put up a front and acted all nice and cared but later after working for some time they stopped giving that front and revealed their true colours and stopped caring about you. They always want to schedule you as if you don’t have a life outside of work. They only give you 3 hour shifts as well, even if you ask for more hours they won’t give it. You will never feel comfortable telling managers anything like struggling with mental health cause they won’t care.

Points positifs

other brand associates are nice

Points négatifs

short hours, no management support
